Planning On Buying GW - Please Help!

Greetings,

I am planning to purchase GW, but I have a few questions first.

I am planning to play with my brother (separate computers, but same internet connection)
- Will this work (As long as we have two different accounts)?
- Is it possible to "duo" successfully in this game?
- If I get Nightfall, can I group with my brother and then fill out the rest of the party with heroes?
- What would be some good options (professions) for duoing?

Now for help with deciding on the purchases.
- Since this will be quite expensive because I need to get two sets of games, I will need some help. I am definitely getting GW prophecies. Would Nightfall be an ideal addition to this set?
- What lvl does Nightfall cater to?

Thanks a lot for all the help!
Hopefully I'll see you all soon.

Yep, as long as you have two different accounts you can play together on different computers/same internet connection.

It's certainly possible to two man/hero each of the campaigns.
However..if you mean..just you and your brother without heroes or hench..the possible areas becomes quite limited.

Yep. Each of you can have 3 heroes out at a time, so...you can fill a group of 8.

Any would work, really..might just need some modifications to which heroes you bring.

I'd suggest getting Nightfall over Factions for the time being. Heroes help quite abit in PvE.

Everything besides Istan(starter island) is level 20 content.

Hope that helped a bit.. =P

It certainly did, thanks!

Just two more for the record:

-Can I start the game in the Guild Wars: Prophecies "newbie" zone and be able to gain access to heroes there (as opposed to needing to play in the island of nightfall)?

-Know where I can find some screenshots of the various professions?

Thanks a ton!

No. If you start in Proph, you won't be able to get access to heroes until you reach Lion's Arch (just over third-way into the game), where you can then travel to Elona (if you have NF) and start collecting your heroes.

http://gw.gamewikis.org/index.php/Main_Page This is the main source for info about GW.

Under "Armor" on that main page, you can see pictures of all armor sets for all professions for all 3 campaigns which, naturally, includes the characters (both male and female) wearing them.

Just to add:

If you do start in Proph, you should be ~lvl 13-16 by the time you get to LA, and going to Elona, you get 4 heroes right off the bat, who are all lvl 15, and can gain a 5th right away, who is lvl 11. So your heroes will keep pace with you in lvl'ing up.

If you start in NF, you get 1 hero at the beginning, a lvl 2 warrior; a bit later you get a lvl 6 monk (though you and the W may be up to lvl 9-11 by then); you will slowly add heroes as you continue to play through the beginner island, ending up with the same 5 heroes you would get if you came over from Proph.

Here is what I suggest.

Play as much of Prophesies as possible. To learn the game system and the professions and skills. Casually playing, you can get max level and max gear in about 2 - 3 weeks. If you're playing with someone else, all the better, you should have an easy time for most of the game as a duo with henchmen.

I would suggest playing as much of Prophesies as possible because of the free skills. You can get Heroes really quick if you get help from others, but they will only have a handful of skills. If this is coupled with the fact that you are unfamiliar with the game, they won't be that much more useful than henchmen.
