Amazing Demo of EotN at IGN
natuxatu
I was over at ign.com and they have an awesome demo for Guild Wars EotN that I think answers a lot of questions and shows off a lot of neat (and some unexpected) things. Honestly I couldn't care less about EotN untill I saw this Demo and now I can't wait. I suggest everyone go over to IGN and check it out it shows of new armor, locations, how the dungeons will work, some bosses, new heroes, the monument of heroes, and one of the cool little interesting things to me where armor pieces that any profession can use (they showed an example of "magma arms") anyway it's pretty sweet

new put-together vid, but old footage. (yup : not all )
great info!!!
I like the "special non-set pieces....Ninja mask...that can be used by any profession." bit that was said.
Im guessing that the "mask" is that mask that the dervish wears in the other vid...
/cant wait.

"new ways for existing GW players to change the look and appearance of existing characters"
I wonder if this refers to armors only. Anyway, is the monk at the character selection screen sporting an existing hairdo?

Lol; It’s the enhance version of what they showed at E3. Probably to make sure they got it right, so there was no room for error (like some of the errors Gaile pointed out are gone from the video).
Still good for those who have yet to see it though.
EDIT: I have to quote this though:

So the weapons for the monument are only obtainable through Eye of the North.. That's somewhat dissapointing. I was looking forward to putting some of the greens I have found in there..

Oh well it was the first time i saw it.. plus the guy giving the narration should nerdy and sexy. But yeah I think the changing of the appearace appears to be things that you can put on that work like armor but are for anything.. like the festival masks kinda.

Haha Jora is HUGE.

Finally, in-game voice acting from NPCs. Gotta listen close to hear it under Ben's voice, but it's definitely there. The Norn who takes him to the arena is the first one you hear ("Who sent you?" at 4:19), then later the Asura speaks as well. <insert quote from the dude in the SC2 trailer here>

It was nice to fully confirm her as a Warrior HERO. I only hope at some point we will see the other HERO's as well.
PLEASE ANET ONE MORE PARAGON HERO!! PLEEEASE!

You don't store them there. You probably just show it like you do with Festival hats.

My thinking is it sounded like the narrator was only saying it bcuz of what the video was showing, which was GWEN weps, not how the monument worked...
It would be sad if you couldnt display ch1-3 items, which you should be able to since the stuff you put in your HoM are supposedly from all your accomplishments from all the chapters that you own and not just gwen... but ye it would suck if it's gwen-only weps... Another thing that caught my eye: What were those "toy-soldier" (guards?) looking things in-between each monument, their proportion looked like minipets. lol. unless the monument items displayed are giant sized...hmmm... -Loki-

That spot in the hall of monuments where you place your armor sets won't fit all 43 sets of my 15k armor......

I'm betting we can put as much of anything into the HoM, but we are only allowed to show a certain number of them, similar to how we can have multiple titles but can only show off one at a time.

That would give us unlimited storage... drool.
The pet enclosure doesn't look very big either btw. Neither does the hero section. GloryFox

Yes but if you are an Eskimo ninja who would suspect that was really you on top of that totem pole? <---- You I would suspect there will be at least 4 different masks just as there will be at least 4 types of gloves, and I'm sure each will have something unique about them, such as +1 level to Asura granted PvE skills etc.. Otherwise why have them at all, they must do something unique. That was just a theory however. -Loki-

Obsidian Armour does nothing unique. Tormented Weapons do nothing unique.

One thing I was'nt sure about was the fighting game. The Monk kept his skills, which means that characters which are easily able to solo will have a distinct advantage over others.
I thought one got a distinct set of fighting skills, so that any profession would be equally competitive. MrGuildBoi
the tournament thing looks like fun ^-^

Only problem is that Inuit don't make totem poles. You're thinking Pacific Coast.

I thought one got a distinct set of fighting skills, so that any profession would be equally competitive. It's not pvp. By the looks of it, it will be fairly simple considering you know what your opponent is going to be after the first try. I strongly doubt you have to use all primary skills when going in, so it should be simple getting counters for whatever your opponent is running, regardless of your class.
That's also just one of many minigames we haven't seen yet. They've specifically mentioned that there is a fist-fighting arena where all your skills get replaced junundu style.

Do you really think that Scooby Doo is a reliable source of facts? Seriously, they've got a semi-talking dog who hangs out with a stoner who gets "high" on "Scooby Snacks".

That explains why people still knew who I was when I was wearing a rubber mask to steal all the cakes.

I hope we can add weapons we've had before EotN to the hall, in the demo it said only weapons obtained in EotN. Oh well I'm not planning on getting GW2 so I guess it doesn't matter. And all we get is a head start with unlocking some things, after about a couple months it'll just be like it is now, people showing off how much time they've wasted in a game and bragging to others.
Willow O Whisper
DAMN U ANET, the god damn leaked armor wasen't made in textmod . Seams we are getting reskins after all.
Starsky-sama
^ye too bad some of those showed are reskins, but there's going to be more than 1 set for each class so here's hoping!
From the low-res Derv armor that they showed b4 and the now hi-res on this vid, Im tempted to get my derv to lvl 20 now...
/Samurai Stylez + All I need is a Kendo sword = uber looking set!!! lol
-Just too /lazy atm.
One more thing: About the Norn tournament that gets you reputation, which then gets you access to unique armor set(s)...hope their better than Factions design/stats...

I'd have to agree with that.
They probably did that because GW:EN is after the unlock system starts recording skins. We all know what outrage would occur if existing skins were also counted and they only counted when you find them off the floor (it will probably use the same system as those Golden eggs).
Note this is pure speculation by me, but I would tend to think that they will try to use existing code as much as possible.

Monks are pretty powerful offensively with the Smite set, remember. But even if it's not perfectly fair, all this means is some characters will just have to build up reputation with other factions. I'm guessing that the skills/items you get through that tournament are most appealing to warriors anyway.
Nevin
Two things I noticed...
1. NPC's have voices now. YAY!
2. Those giant magma fireballs in the boss fight aren't impressing enough, when they kill you, they just roll over you. How about some fire spewing?, or your corpse burning after you're engulfed by the flaming ball of doom. Com'n Anet you can do better.

A) Obsidian armor comes in sets; the 4 known gloves and 2 known masks do not. Why not a full suit? I would suspect that there may be more masks and armor items then we have seen. Publicly ANET has only shown 2 masks so far and one set of Gloves, (we all know there are more gloves than one due to an unpopular hax).
B) Tormented items although hard to get are sill just weapons, staffs or offhand items no different than any other weapons staff or offhand. They have no relation to armor in any way. Plus I never said anything about weapons.
C) Why not just make a full suit of armor that is the same skin for every class in the game? Why just gloves and a headpiece? Does that not seem a bit odd to you? It does me seem odd to me.
D) If ANET is going the way of PvE only skills why not PvE armor pieces as well?
Its something to think about and consider at least.

I get them confused with the Haida from time to time. I blame my government funded propaganda type education for my Indigenous First Nations ignorance. They tend to group everyone native to the pacific northwest as Eskimos, even though this is untrue. I have the same problem with the Chumash vs. other south west Indigenous First Nations people groups. Mordakai
So, it sounds like you get the special equipment by playing the Mini games.

They should release a title for maxing grinder titles like these new rep ones and SS/LB.

Really anybody should be able to do these 1v1 arenas if built correctly. Warriors can bring Holy Veil and Mending Touch, while using the Ripostes, Disarm, and some interrupt skills.
