Heroes' Ascent Update
As a part of this play-balance test week, we’ve made the following changes to Heroes' Ascent:
* Removed Broken Tower from the map rotation.
* Removed Burial Mounds from the map rotation and replaced it with Fetid River, a new 8v8 Annihilation map that has a Priest.
* Removed Sacred Temples from the map rotation and replaced it with the Antechamber, a new 8v8 Control Point map.
* Added Forgotten Shrines, a new 8v8 Control Point map, to the map rotation after Unholy Temples.
* Changed the Courtyard's game type from Kill Count to King of the Hill.
Miscellaneous
* To prevent exploitation of the Nightfall starter mission and quests, the gold rewards for the "Take the Shortcut," "Rally the Recruits," "Quiz the Recruits," and "Primary Training" quests have been removed, and the gold rewards for the Chahbek Village mission have been decreased to 20 gold for Standard, 30 gold for Expert, and 50 gold for Master's. The reward for the Nightfall quest "Secondary Training" has been increased to 200 gold to compensate.
* Updated the map rotation for Automated Tournaments.

Yay. -_-

I have no problem with them lowering the reward stuff for the beginning parts. Nevertheless if they increased the rewards for the latter portions of the game that would certainly balance it out a bit more. Especially for those RoT missions or master quests in Nightfall.
Phantom Gun
Oh good no nerfs. *Phew* I looked through the wishlist and there is a few wishes in there I hope never happen. I was almost afraid to log out lol.
EDIT: I just realized I came straight here to see what the update was rather then the official site or the wiki lol.

Lame. Can still be exploited. I normally farm BEFORE the first Mission for Gold then go to the Hall and get my weapons. This was a weird and bad move. If A-Net wants to stop people from going to Hall then they need to do what they did with Pre-Sear. All they did was screwed players out of precious extra Exp Points. I can see a poop storm brewing as a result of this Update.
Edit: Is it just me or does A-Net seem to not care much about the poop storms their Updates have been causing as of late?

I heard skill nerfs next week, can anyone confirm this?
Pale-Dim
i see it as a good update. not only was HA given a tiny shakeup and new maps to boot! they also deal a small blow to them annoying necro-bots in channbek village. So next on the list is the funny business in marketplace and altruum ruins. i hear there are some bots in bergen still too
bitchbar player
wow, after more then 2 years finally new maps in HA, no only remove heroes form pvp and this game is fun again

Fetid River is bad, sorry.

Silly brain fart moments. Heh. Wasn't Sacred Temple a map they JUST renamed? If it is then wow totally odd that they would remove it AFTER renaming it.
countesscorpula
Glad to see they fixed that Vampirism bug introduced in the last update... oh wait, they didn't -.-
fenix
Forgotten Shrines is also bad.

Not many HOWEVER a smart botter that wanted to keep his bot from going past the first Mission could create a dummy Guild and still access the Hall WHICH has a storage vault. Honestly this whole thing was a bad move and people will have to work a bit harder for experience points and Gold. A-Net seems to screw the innocent people so much when they go after the botters that it's a headache.

Also, can I just take the opportunity to say that although there is still a definite issue with hexes, the balance of the rest of the game is much better than at any time since Nightfall came out. Obviously that's not going to stop people (including myself) complaining loudly about the things that could still use some work, but overall I'd say gg on the current state of the game. Errr 14:16, 24 July 2007 (UTC) Well I normally do them after AT's and I plan on doing one soon, often it's a week after AT's so I'm sure you could make an Educated guess ~Izzy @-'---- 00:53, 25 July 2007 (UTC) |

This was just a weird and somewhat lame update overall. I have come to a point where I have love for the game but no love for the people behind it.

Darn, pvp update(i like pve updates a lot):P Well i kinda guessed this would happen as tomorrow is double fame.
Hmmmm might have to give HA another s hot tomorrow to see how this all works out.

I hoped they would fix the graphics problem with the hourglass staff as posted in bugs
Oh well

I want to love A-Net but it's hard to do that when they do lame Updates that cause problems and\or break the game.

awesome a pvp patch that didn't affect pve at all.... see I knew it was possible!
here's to hoping the next skill balance isn't another pvp-induced thoughtless nerf-fest...

effects on players in PvE? they change their builds? you're not bringing up anything that hasn't been mentioned and answered before

No, I'm not. the problem is the answers aren't good. And the problem still exists. And that was my original point, hoping that they will step away from the PvE-killing PvP-based "balance" updates. (read: change to a new FOTM update)

Miral, still mourning the loss of SF, eh?
I like the the new capture point maps, as they will split up spike groups, but I miss Sacred Temples... and Fetid River is even tighter than Burial Mounds o_O

Because monster balance matters right? -_-
Anyway, I'll have to see these new maps for myself.

I sense much bitterness on the pvp side.......
as long as anet continues to force pvp and pve to obey the same rules, there will be this division in the community. That's pretty sad, because anet is drawing this line in the sand and the forums are where we bash each other. That frustration should really be aimed at anet.
