Is anet/ncsoft the gold sellers we see ingame?

The reason I ask this is because they don't really have a handle on this problem while pretending that they do. In last 3 days I have seen the same company advertising continously in Kamadan dis 1 that they are a gold selling site. Interestingly enough when one of them actually talked to me about there accounts being banned he stated "I don't care I have a never ending supply of 24 hour accounts." Over these three days I have seen 9 accounts been used by this company and then disappear.

How does this individual have unlimited siupply of 24 hour accounts? Also I am assuming on this but I really think he meant 14 hour trial accounts but even then to have a never ending supply. I have also noticed this company around for over 2 months now. However, they do change their company name but same ad style. You probably have seen it the one that starts with NEWS: at the start of it.

Even interestingly enough anet has the abilty to stop this but has never inforced it other then maybe banning the account 5 hours after the person has spammed to hell about their site and thats a big if after 5 hours and I have even seen longer then a day on some.

How come anet just doesn't use some volunteers (which many games have done and never had issue with this process) or some of their support staff that we all know just sit their and copy and paste and use some online GM's. We all know they have GM abilities since while the winter fest we saw them running around picking up presents that where stuck and had a big ol GM tag above their head. Plus Gaile supposivly has given multiple people temp bans on the spot (supposivly a person was blocking her view for a picture at one point and got temp banned for it, if this is rumour or not I am unsure but I read it somewhere on this site about it while an event).

You could have some hidden GM's and some just roaming around. It a pretty easy solution in which we all know they are able to do. Also this online GM presence might actually clean up a bit of the racism and just pure ignorance that you see sometimes and make the gamea more friendlier place.

Because its been over a year of this problem I wonder if it really is anet/ncsoft that are selling gold since this problem could have been rectified by now.

What's your take on this?

gold sellers are there because with cheap china/3rd world labor they can make a decent profit.

ANET/NCsoft never once has claimed to have a handle on the problem just that they ban as many as they can.

Conspiracy theories ftl. If they actually wanted to sell gold, they'd do it through the online store with better advertising, not through shady people ingame.

They've said they ban some 300 bots per day, I'm willing to take that at face value.

And it will work. Look at everquest for example. They had online GM"s that reports could be placed too and they would show up on the spot and deal with it. People stealing other peoples loot where banned, racism they where banned. People selling accounts where BANNED!!!!! They also did other services. Sony got smart and said listen if you want to sell accounts do it thru us but we want a portion the money. I also just saw an other thread where the op said for anet to sell online gold themselves thru the store. I also have no issue with that since that would just put the money back into anet and for development for a better game in the end. Plus it again would get rid of bots and gold sellers for the most part. Not all but a good portion.

I'll be happy as long as anet doesn't adopt the silk road system.

So yes it will work and after everything I have seen in this game and not being done you can only assume whats going on in the background but still feasible. I also never stated they where just putting it out there.

how do they get so many accounts. Which if you really look at it all those bot accounts being if they are boughten is sure making anet a good sum of free money lol. Makes you think an other reason why they have such a slow process to stop it lol.

If anet wanted to sell gold, they would do it though the online store. Saying that they are behind this is ridiculous.

Anet doesn't have the means to get rid of bots and gold selling. Its not possible no get rid of them. Every MMORPG has them, and there is nothing anyone can do about that.

There was already a thread on this, and I doubt it will be long before this is closed, but whatever. Average of 300 per day for the last two years amounts to 220,000 accounts banned. 3.5 million copies sold would be aprox. 1.5 million accounts overall (not all accounts have all 3 chapters).

So, about 15% of all accounts to date have been bots - easily believable. The accounts are rarely purchased by botters anyways, and are instead stolen from existing players - usually through key logs obtained by downloading 3rd-party software.

Thing though unlike the advertisers that can use trial accounts to advertise is the bots have to go get skills and get to teh area to do their farming so using normal full accounts. 220,000 x $30 dollars for the account( that just an estimate probably costs more but figure I would go under the amount) would be $6,600,000usd. Even if they stole accounts to steal that many accounts regardless would be that much money since someone payed that.

K so wonder how many of the bot accounts are boughten and how many are stolen?

Also how much does each bot account earn before its banned realisticly?

K im just going to do some math based off if all 220000 did buy their accounts and i'll show my work. At this point no idea what the results will be but here we go.

At todays market of 7.50 - 7.80 usd per 100k . I'll use the 7.80 for the next calculation of the division of the 6 mil + usd.

so $6600000 divided by $7.80 = 846153.8462 purchases needed of 100k increments, now times that by 100k = 84615384.62k needed to be farmed, now we have to divide that by 220000 bot accounts which equals 384k per bot needed to be made.

The answer for $7.50 = 400k per bot needed to be made

Hmm after that calculation 400k is pretty easy to make in a day of farming considering I know they have sellers that sell off the bot items.

So I guess that would be profitable in a way.

Well, Police had always stench of corruption, and every so often journalists dig up some interesting affairs.

That said, there is abosulutelly no proof to anet-selling-gold theory.

It definitelly does not explain massive bot operations (Anet would have better ways to produce ingame gold if they wanted).

If arena-net really wanted to sell gold themselves, they would work WAY harder to shut down botters as it would cut into their own profits.

So, we can conculde: Bots are out there -> Anet is not selling ingame money

Sadly, no mmo has guts to do that thing (They are removing customer after all, usually someone taking game seriously enough to inver reall money besides required fees)

Meo Yeong, rethink your theory. Anet isn't selling gold and they have nothing to do with the gold sellers other than the fact they ban their accounts.

With the GM side of things,

I'd assume Anet employees actually play the game, which would mean they would also encounter the gold sellers.

It'd be logical for them to report the sellers right? So would paid GMs be necessary?
