Mouse Problems (on a Vista laptop)

Ok, I have this game installed on a pretty good Vista PC downstairs and everything works beautifully smoothly.

But my not-as-powerful Vista laptop is having some pretty crippling problems with the mouse cursor. When every I move it it just seems to jump from place to place and every button I click on there's a slight delay for it register as a click.

The best way to describe the problem is that when I draw lines on the compass the line doesn't follow the cursor, it's actually about half a second behind it.

Is there a solution?

computer specs? brand? etc

It's a Samsung R40 and I'm running with intel core 2, ati radeon xpress 200m graphics card, 2 gig of ram and vista home premium.

Ok, I was just playing Dungeon Runners and had EXACTLY the same problem.

Do you reckon it could be a lag-related issue?

And the problem has been fixed by lowering the resolution to one below my native one. Crazy.
