I dont pve much, and dont really have a way to test this, But I thought it might work pretty well in PvE. Sorry if this is whatever the most used a/d build is, I dont keep much track on whats going on pve wise.

[skill]Critical defenses[/skill]
[skill]Critical agility[/skill]
[skill]Mystic regeneration[/skill]
[skill]Golden phoenix strike[/skill]
[skill]Critical strike[/skill]
[skill]moebius strike[/skill]
[skill]death blossom[/skill]
[skill]Resurrection signet[/skill]

Generall idea being you activate mystic, critical defenses and agility, and then run in ( after Tank aggros the bunch. ) and start dealing aoe damage with blossom/moebius combo and using critical strike for e-management and to refresh your enchants.

Everybody loves [skill=text]Mystic Regeneration[/skill]. To be honest, the reason I'm taking my 'sin through Nightfall (before my native character!) is because he's my favorite character and I want that skill so I can make a ScytheSin.

Mystic Regen, Crit Defenses, CE and/or WotA, Eremite's and Mystic's... booyah!

Meh.... why bother with dumping points in Earth Prayers and taking Mystic Regeneration?
If you're doing that many Criticals you might as well use [skill]Way of Perfection[/skill] with a bit of Shadow Arts, and save your secondary for something else.

nine regen is quite a bit more healing than way of perfection.

Is any more REALLY necessary?
Is it worth dedicating the entire secondary class to?

I mean... your choice if you want to, but I'd sooner go secondary Monk for condition removal.

I'm figuring your mind just got briefly de-railed there from the topic at hand: WoP vs MR.

With a decent shadow arts critical strikes will heal you

20-40 hp x2 with moebuis you can alternate that (with critical agility aswell!)
to be healing around 80/120 hp every 3/4 seconds (as moebius 2 second recharge)
The regen you get from this build is +9 (with 8 earth prayers)

if way of perfection = 8 shadow arts

26 x2 (due to critical strikes) = 52 hp every critical strike, while rotating from moebuis (if target is at below 50% which happens quickly in pve.

56 every 3 seconds (moebuis has 2 second recharge, and about 1 second to use critical strikes twice due to the IAS)

that = 102 hp in 3 second.
Mystic regen will give you 18 hp a second, in 3 seconds its not alot -_-

Way of perfection is better. Also thats not counting the Critical strikes you may get in when using moebius.

Not to mention that the secondary being freed up by using WoP instead allows for better selection of condition removal or similar.

[skill]shadow refuge[/skill] is better self heal for a sin

[skill]critical eye[/skill] with agility and WoP would probably be good too

I say lose the dervish and use monk for hard res instead

Irrespective though... WoP is just a better choice.

4 in three seconds can happen. You need a bit of luck (or some low-level enemies), but it wouldn't be too much of a surprise.

I mean, GPS --> Critical Strike --> [auto-attack] could give you 4, and it wouldn't even be that much of a surprise. But consistently getting 4 in 3 seconds isn't going to happen, especially as you start approaching end-game.

That said, I like WoP if I can sustain frequent criticals. If, however, I find myself in a situation where I'm just not going to be able to crit as often as I want, and I need to leave behind Critical Strike because where I'm going requires more damage... Mystic Regen is sexy.

Consider Mystic when you're burning. Or poisoned. Or diseased. Or bleeding. Or someone has Life Siphon on you. Or any number of those damn mesmer hexes that come with built-in degen. Way of Perfection is hard-pressed to deal with those unless you focus your build on getting crits (Critical Strike, Critical Eye, WotA+enchantment if you're really determined) - the end result, of course, being less damage.

I'm a big fan of both, don't get me wrong. If I don't have one on my bar, it's quite possible that I have the other. I just don't think it's always WoP > MR.

I mean, WoP kept me as last man standing in Hell's Precipice when my team got careless with AoE and spawned a few too many Hands/Fists. But Mystic would've made it a lot easier when I was fighting the Burning Titans.

They've both got their uses, and I really think the one you take depends on where you're going.

A common misconception is that regen is the best way to fight degen. It isn't.
Regeneration is still calculated in pips, and maxes at 10.
Each pip being 2 health per second, the max that regen can net you is 20 hp per second.
Way of Perfection and other skills can surpass this. Even Healing Signet can.
Most of the danger of degen in a battle is psychological. "Omg, I have 10 degen, I'm gonna die."
You should think of it as, "Big deal, someone's hitting me with a wand".
Cause that's pretty much what it is.

Even if regen isn't the best way to fight degen, it's certainly easier to maintain. Yes, if I can consistently get criticals, WoP is better to bring. But I'm just not going to crit that often against a Burning Titan unless I build around it.

If I don't want to build around getting criticals, but want to build instead around more damage, Mystic can be easier. As I previously said, they've both got their place.

of course non-regen skills can surpass regen, but WoP dosnt surpass Mystic regen without a build designed around it.

Valid point. But I'm carrying Crit Agility and Crit Defenses a lot of the time, so +9 regen is nothing to sneeze at.

Bring a prot monk along, and you'll have a ton of enchantments on you. The regen is nothing to sneeze at, especially when you're dealing with degen-heavy arenas.

Point taken, though.
