Well back when I only had around 250 RAM, it was very laggy for me at times and did take a few minutes to load missions. It's possible to play, but it's not a smooth game with that RAM at all. 512 I'd say is a fair bare minimum. If you really want to play it, you can. But it's not gonna be as fast as you'd like it to be. I'm sitting at 2GB RAM now and it's definitely a lot faster.

I would have to agee that such low RAM may be a problem.

The game advertises that it can be played on 512MB and I can say for sure that it will play on older 512MB of even old SDRAM as I sometimes use my second account on a backup PC with 512MB SDRAM.

I can recommend the game to anyone thinking of playing but would also recommend you try and play on the best system you can as it will be a lot smoother and better looking.

If run on absolute lowest quality, and have nothing else running, you might be able to run it halfway decently.

Running the graphics on lower quality doesn't help much if RAM is your limitation.

When I play on my laptop, loading the main trade centres is a pain and loading areas in general takes a fair bit longer.

Also when encountering mobs or when there are lots of objects on screen, it gets a bit choppy.

Are you serious? Who trys to play modern games in this day and age with only 256MB of RAM? Do yourself a favour and go and get yourself some more memory! You don't have a snowballs chance in hell of running Nightfall with that amount of memory. Hell, I'd be surprised if your OS isn't eating the majority of it.

He has a point there. Especially with the OS eating the majority of it at 256. You want at least 512MB with a goal of around 1GB. Not only will it make games smoother but it will make your general computer performance faster too.

I recommend having at least 1-2 GB of RAM.

You can still play the missions etc fine, your main problem will be the loading. It will take at least 15 minutes to load every town, between every area, and into every mission. It gets incredibly frustrating, and the teams you join will generally leave an instance before you've entered it thinking that you've err=7'd...

I would recommend getting 1GB+

I had 384mb when I got Factions and it would take like 5 minutes to load in a zone so my guildies would have to sit there and wait, eventually I told them that I couldn't do anymore activities with them since I didn't want them to have to wait every time we zone but then I got 1GB and I loaded a lot faster. I'm thinking of maybe getting some more RAM by the time GW:EN is released since they are supposed to be using a different engine.

I'm betting you have integrated graphics with that so that'll take a chunk out of your memory as well.?

If he does, he's screwed. I hated my old computer. It struggled to play GW, had 2.3GHZ processor, 256MB RAM, 128MB integrated graphics and was terrible for GW. I had to upgrade to 800MB RAM and 256 graphics card to keep me going for a while.

Now I'm on a 3.4GHZ duo core, 512MB graphics card and 2GB RAM. So if he IS on integrated with that amount of RAM, he'll never manage Guild Wars.

Yep 1gb of memory is pretty much standard for today gaming, 2gb is even better. And if you're running Vista anything lower than 1gb will be rubbish. On board graphic-card unless it's a modern laptop, will be rubbish as well.

yeah i am runnning 2Gb 8600 GT and i aways load first when in a group and never get any FPS problems so i would say that it would be a very good idea to upgrade. Sticks of RAM arent that expensive if you have a job or regular income you should afford some easily.

I've played Guild Wars with 256MB RAM for several months. Loading times suck a lot, a few minutes for small empty outposts, around 10+ minutes for crowded areas.XD

I played Nightfall with 256 when it first came out and I had no where near the loading time some of you had. 2-3 minutes was the norm and maybe 5 if I loaded in to Kamadan dist1. Rarely, if ever, did it take longer than that.

I did get some lag. Especially the first couple of fights after zoning, but at the same time when guildies were complaining of real bad lag, I wasn't getting that much, if any. *shrug*
