Locked Chests in HM

Because the general pattern of increasing rewards has been followed fairly stringently so far, why not do the same for the Treasure Hunter Title? Locked Chests could give two TH points when opened, leading to better benefits for anyone good enough to reach the chest in the first place. This would make using lockpicks in HM much more appealing, despite the easy breakage. As it is, title hounds such as myself avoid HM chests just because they aren't at all cost efficient, even with the chance of elite tomes dropping.

Heck, while you're at it, make all HM chest drops max. Use a lockpick in HM Ascalon, and you may very well spend 1500g on a 14-21 long sword, which doesn't make much sense.

I disagree with you there. First off, locked chests can be very easily accessed in some areas, so there shouldn't be much difficulty in finding them. Also, the profit margin for locked chests has usually been good for me, but only if I buy 10+.

It's a gamble, and sometimes it's worth it and sometime's it's not. I have a character who has Advanced Treasure Hunter (3). In my experience since lockpicks came out, I've been pleased with their role in the gameworld. They generally reveal more golds than standard keys and the weapons that drop almost always come with some max stats.

Lockpicks are the biggest gamble out there. Let's keep it that way. Just my two cents.

The title point count is fine.
If anything, the later in the game you are, the better chance of golds.

It's a pretty weak system that you can go into the Realm/Hell's Precipice/Raisu Palace and get a weak purple.

I'd also throw in Non-Elite tomes (SWEET I spent 1.5k on a key and I got a non-elite ranger tome!! Yes!!!), but not to too much of an extent.
Atleast non-elites can be sold for 400g+, where as a purple will only net you around 130g.

I can reach the chest fine!

the problem is the lock pick, it keeps breaking! once I have 2 lockpick on a HM trip, I use both, and both were destroyed, and I got PURPLE ITEMS!

How about this:

If the chest opens to reveal a purple, there should be an increased chance to keep your lockpick.

Whoever hides all these items in the chests isn't going to worry about putting the highest quality lock on a chest that isn't going to contain the highest quality item. Makes sense, right?

Make some title increasing in Sing Jea... then go to Ascalon to open some chest keeping almost always the lockpick... then you have lucky maxed in some months, and no matter what you open, you'll gain more gold than the gold you lose by losing lockpicks.

I would agree with having a singly better drops from hardmode chests... at least max damage and req 8..10.

Hard mode chests are fine as they are. They help you gain unlucky points as you go. It would cheapen the T hunter title to give anything double points unless it were a weekend event.

/notsigned.. HM chests are fine.

Would be too easy to get max weapons if this happened..
