Limitations on heroes?
reddswitch
From what I've heard, Eye of the North will have 10 heroes, one of each profession. So, my question is how will this affect people who don't have all 3 campaigns? Does Prophecies only accounts have access to assassin, ritualist, dervish, paragon heroes or any heroes at all? Or Factions only to dervish or paragon heroes? Or Nightfall only to assassin or ritualist heroes?
The likelihood of it is no, but if there's a definite answer I'd like to know. It'll clear up some confusion on who, where, and how.

When you buy GW:EN, you get ALL the heros that it comes with, even if you only own Prophecies.
So, when you buy GW:EN you get those 10.
When you buy nightfall, you get the ones that comes with it, plus the bonus 2 from Factions and Prophecies, if you also own those campaigns.
So...you'll end up with about roughly 20 heros.

My pull down menu for heroes is going to be so long after GWEN .

can you unlock skills from a campaign you don't own?
I seem to remember i couldn't unlock dervish or paragon skills before i bought nightfall. If that is the case then people wouldn't be able to fill those heroes skill bars with skills from their own proffesion.

And yet, we only get to use 3 at a time (per character that is )
I'm happy as long as we get some max weapons at their "joining point"
And to the OP: You probably get those heroes of the campaigns you don't own, but your stuck with those skillbars they come with untill you unlock some skills (And if you don't own a campaign with skills, you have to buy that first. That is called marketing :P)

There is a total of 25 heroes. The 10 from GW:EN, plus:
Koss
Dunkoro
Melonni
Tahlkora
Acolyte Jin
Acolyte Sousuke
Zhed Shadowhoof
Master of Whispers
Margrid the Sly
Goren
Norgu
General Morgahn
Razah
Olias
Zenmai
You can get Razah without owning Factions, but your available skills are limited to those that can be found in Nightfall. You can purchase Ritualist hero skills for him, but obviously you can't earn them yourself without Factions. I imagine GW:EN will work much the same way.

Use Party Search to add Heroes to your party. Although, with 10 new ones, you may have to scroll a little to view all 25.

Just a note but if you don't own a campaign but you have skills from that campaign, your heroes can use those skills. However you cannot use it manually for them, you'll need to rely on the ever reliable AI to do it for you
I tested Razah out (he has Weapon of Warding initially) and he was casting those spells on me even though I don't own Factions

Indeed; as its a right pain in the arse to find that new max dmg sword that is decent enough every time one of my toons earns that hero.

Most likely there will be Hero Skill Trainers like in Nightfall, so even if you don't own nightfall, you can still train your new heros with some additional skills.
