Dev Testing?
Tauren Arcanist
I was reading through the Mallyx post and saw a few people claiming that Dev's use game hax while they do testing. Can some one post a link? I wanna see this vids : )
Bryant Again
Why would the devs use "game hax" in their testing?

So they dont have to actually play through the area's I suppose, Im not sure if these claims have any truth behind them, why I was hopping some one could post a vid or something.
Silly Warrior
They use it when they Demo areas, or to show people areas fast, without having to spend time fighting. My guess is its mostly used for previews and stuff like E3.
Wish I had the code :P

Also if you watch the GW:EN game play video here:
http://uk.gamespot.com/video/938739/...walk-through-1
Late on in the video Ben's monk has over 1000 health, over 100 energy and a constant +10 energy and health regeneration, even when standing around doing nothing.

You can actually see the cheat commands Ben Miller types in the higher res version of the gameplay demo. Fortunately, there seems to be more to it than simply entering a code (I tried ); maybe its restricted to certain accounts or perhaps the devs use a special version of the GW client.

Its not gonna work on the live server you silly nannies :P
Gaile has mentioned that that Devs have no powers in the live server and have to gain everything like normal players.
Only on the test servers would special skills like Bamph! and such work.

Actually if you read the posts you will see where the devs said that they did the quest the standard way....they were talking about a bug or certain cicumstaces where he would't use his overpowered mob skill as often....i think they said something about a fix coming soon too

It sounds like the OP thinks this is a bad thing...I guess I'm just confused.
VitisVinifera
During the ATS beta testing, of which I was a participating beta tester, we also saw the Devs using hacks and cheats. Some of these were commands that we were able to use, such as giving ourselves gold, speed boosts, ect. Others were special skills that only the devs had, such as Bamph!. This was on the closed server. No I don't have a link but I do have screenies, however I don't really care to post these, as it's well known and many people were there.
Edit: Bryant, it is a bad thing when devs use dev cheats when game testing and balancing. See the entire Mallyx thread.

It is ludicrous to think that the devs went and fought Mallyx, killed him with their cheats and then went "you know what that was far too easy lets make it harder"
fenix
You don't understand Stealthc. All they did was use the dev commands to GET to him quickly. Then they used the regular skills and build to see if they could beat him.
Stealthc
The only place that is said anywhere in the Mallyx thread is by VitisVinifera mentioning the devs having cheatcodes for the ATS testing and in a DEMONSTRATION VIDEO FOR THE PRESS and then claiming that this is how the devs test everything.
Anet is a company making large sums of money of this game, do you REALLY THINK they would be that stupid to use their cheats to test something that will become live content?

I don't know, maybe you wouldn't skip something by using cheats because it is your job to test them?
I'm not saying they don't skip areas by using the cheats all the time, as you say it would be a waste of time.
But to insinuate that the devs use the cheats in every instance is ludicrous.

And yet look at how many many times we find obvious bugs that they somehow miss. How else you gonna explain things like that.

Of course they would have used devcodes to get to Mallyx. Devs take enough time making something - if all they want to do is test to see if a new trigger or event works, they aren't going to go through everything to get there. It's just a pointless waste of time.
