Help with my assassin build
jerook
I could really use some help with a build for an assassin. I've been messing around with some different builds. They work really well but I would like some pointers, tips, and maybe some skill suggestions for an assassin weilding vampiric daggers. I looked through some builds but didn't really seem to find the answers I was looking for. I don't know maybe I didn't look hard enough. I'm not really asking for a cookie cutter build or anything, just some help and ideas to get me started so I can make use of the vampiric daggers I have just gotten. I don't know if it matters or not but the daggers that I just got are Urkal's Kamas. I appreciate any and all advice.

Try to get Zealous Daggers. They're more versatile.

Thanks for the suggestion but I would like to try and use these daggers I have. I was kinda hoping for something to help with that. There are so many vampiric green daggers. There has got to be a good build, certain skills, etc.. that would make using vampiric daggers work. Any other suggestions?

there arent. just use any normal build, but you will be short on energy. and swap weapons when out of battle. and pick up some zealous daggers as soon as possible.

I don't think you necessarily need to design a build around vamp daggers. Just think of them as extra damage.

I have always prefered zealous over vamp daggers, though both have destinct purposes. The basis of the current assassin being played is:
Speed+Conditions+Critical Strike Potential=GG.
Builds currently popular in various areas of PvP allow for use of vamp,ebon,zealous and fiery daggers-all depending on the team dynamic. The phrase "cookie cutter" applies to overused builds, but this doesn't make them uneffective or impotent. Maybe you should look into these builds and find what you like?
IAS+Snare+Circumventing the defense=Successful Assassins.
Since you don't want the cookie cutter variety, I won't talk skills in particular. The above formula is all you need to be successful in the basic sense on the topic of being an assassin. The popular way of doing this currently:
[skill=card]Tiger Stance[/skill] or [skill=card]Lightning Reflexes[/skill] with [skill=card]Shadow Prison[/skill][skill=card]Expose Defenses[/skill] to snare and circumvent the defenses.
In PvE Critical Agility is king for primary assassins.Period, end of story in the IAS department. IAS, for those who are new to the term, it means Increased Attacking Speed/Stance/Skill This particular type of skill is neccessary for any/all melee classes. Anything else added makes this an assassin's clinic.

some builds need zealous and some don't. i myself use vamp daggers all the time (have lightning daggers then switch to vamp right before attacking). if you have an energy regaining skill, such as black lotus strike, golden lotus strike, or critical strike, you do not need zealous. vamp daggers give +3 damage to every attack, and it adds up in the long run.
do you need a pve or pvp build?

[skill=card]Black Lotus Strike[/skill]>[skill=card]Golden Lotus Strike[/skill]>[skill=card]Critical strike[/skill]
The interesting thing about each attack type is that since the OP doesn't want the generic "cookie cutter" build and is set on using vamps, it moderately limits the assistance available currently.
As mentioned by Cytherea, any of the above skills can give back energy, making zealous daggers not as needed. Yet, the most effective ways of dealing the extra damage consist in what is currently in use.
I've seen a build using [skill=card]Aura of Displacement[/skill][skill=card]Shadowy Burden[/skill] as the means to snare and shadowstep to the target, as well as supplying an avenue of escape. With BLS, this combination would give back substantial mana, as well as an avenue of escape in case the hex is removed or the player is overwhelmed.
Add to this line of thinking the use of non elite snares, such as [skill=card]Dark Prison[/skill] and pair it with [skill=card]Moebius Strike[/skill] to maximize dagger attacks.

Hum... you could try [skill]Locust's Fury[/skill]
Apparently this means you'll be auto-attacking a good deal of time but maybe it could be effective with the right selection of support skills (I'd say [skill]Frenzy[/skill] or something but I don't know where the boundaries of cuteness lie yet ). It should make for an horrendous number of hits though.

Vampiric Daggers rather than Zealous, eh?
[skill]Assassin's Promise[/skill] will be your best friend then.
Stick enough points into Deadly Arts and it should cover energy management nicely.
Then it is either a matter of using a really cheap combo (e.g. [skill]Jagged Strike[/skill][skill]Wild Strike[/skill][skill]Death Blossom[/skill][skill]Impale[/skill]) ....
.... Or black-lining with [skill]Black Lotus Blossom[/skill] thrown in.
O'course.... if you're running heavy on the Deadly Arts for energy management as I do.... you may not have enough points for Critical Strikes, so Critical Agility might not work as an IAS .... and you'll probably need one if you're using Vampiric Daggers.
Word of advice though: swap to different weapons when out of combat. You don't want to be unnecessarily losing health.
