Can't we just get rid of the country separation (america/europe)
Sniper22
Seriously... why can't we just combine the american districts and the european english districts together. It will give more population in each town and missions so it would be easier to find groups. Now that we aren't fighting each other for favor... there is no point to keep people divided. The districts should just be divided by language, not country.

First of, the districts are separated by language, not nationality.
Seconly, the English districts have allready "merged" into the Common districts; so what does that make of your suggestion?

I would prefer to have a choice wether to play with 100ms ping on a european server or 400ms on an international one, rather than be "forced" to play on a universal one with 400ms.

I agree with the OP however, even if his wording was off. Why not just merge servers? I play on American servers now having moved from the European just so that I could get parties again. There is hardly anyone around half the time on the Euro servers (at least not when Australians play), and although the American servers seem to have more players it still becomes difficult to find parties.
While people continuously give statistics saying that the GW player base is not dropping off, my in game experience suggests otherwise. Players just aren't active anymore, and it's getting harder and harder to find players to do missions and quests with. If we simply merged the American and European servers we could once again actually play with real people, which I'd like for a change.

That may be in Autralia Time. So far, I've only seem some outposts in Tyria with absolutely no one since I've joined the game.

I think this is what they are doing in GW2 with persistent areas

Ya sorry if my wording is a little off. I think the problem right now is that we are too spread out over the 3 continents and we will be even more spread out after GW:EN comes out. Letting Americans and Europeans play on the same server would make things better.

It would give more population but the lag will be worse for everyone most likely.

For towns this will be a common issue as the instance of the town may be hosted on the servers for a different region. Picking a lower ping server to host it on may be difficult because of the following:
- The majority of players in the town may be getting low ping for the American servers, meaning that its better overall to host that district on the American servers, even though any European players will be disadvantaged.
- Over time the population inside a town district will change. ANET might not be able to change which server an instance resides on, so they can't react if the population there changes.
But this is only in town, where lag doesn't matter that much. Naturally whenever an event has present drops, those would have to be assigned to a player to be fair.
However for actual explorable instances, where the lag actually matters, there are only a limited number of people, and no new people will be added. Meaning it will be much easier for GW to decide which server their instance will be hosted on. I'm not sure how well the current algorithm GW uses works here, so it may need some tweaking.
