Buy Collector's Edition Online
higaru
I think it would be a great idea if players can buy the collector's edition online, been dying to buy GW collectors edition but can't find it in any store....
Another great idea would be to sell upgrades on the site for current account, as allowing players to officially buy the Divine Aura, or some mini pet, same way as we buy the xtra weapons online!!
Hope this will be taken in consideration....

Sorry, these are unique for a reason. Doing this would devalue them severely.

They have already confirmed that collector's content will stay exclusive.
Here the only problem is "New players that didn't knew about the game" vs "Old player than want exclusivity and show off".
It's simply unfair not not let new players to get everything. Some of them never knew about GW, or just bought the PC or got internet connection...
On top of that, there are some people that bought collectors to sell them later on for increased prices, and it would be a way to punish that.
There was a 'special edition upgrade'.
Once GW2 is out, there could be upgrades for collectors, since those 'I love show off look at me' will probably move to GW2.

them that has it me included were told it was a special ingame item you could buy as long as supply held out but it was a limited collectors edition and would not be available anytime later.
that is what makes it special instead of all over the place on a whim and mommas credit card.
again they have said no way will they cut out those starting people that took a chance.
as for buying for profit later they are so small it cant be counted
if you think there are a lot buy one from them

I Personally have Collectors Edition of Prophecies and I have never ''showed off''.. the most i could see it representing is that i am a veteran of the game.
Most complainers just sound like they are jealous or something.
MithranArkanere
Oh, it's not that.
GW has a lot of 'Gotta Catch'em all' feeling. And not being able to get something (regardless of other having it or not) is highly frustating for those players.

As it has been stated many times before already in this thread and others. There is a reason why the Collectors Edition is well the collectors edition. It's supposed to be a set number of them shipped and no more than that. Otherwise what the hell is the point of even releasing it if everyone can get it.

If ArenaNet are unwilling to sell the CE's in the online store, the least they could do is release another run of each in games retailers. By not releasing any more of the most coveted version; the Prophecies CE, it shows that they condone the profit that players make by selling it for £200+ on eBay. To me that is very wrong, when the only reason people want it is for the Divine Aura. I wonder if it would sell so well if the DA wasn't included, I mean come on, the only CE that got shafted was Nightfall and I think it's a tad unfair, because even Factions had a decent CE.
I feel I should also mention I am a "veteran" player, having been with Guild Wars for almost 2 years, and I don't want the DA, but I see no harm offering it up to other players. To me there's nothing worse than walking up to soemone who is in full FoW and he calls you a noob, flashes his DA or dances, and doesn't even know how to use the skills properly in his bar.

I read this thread and I lol'd.

Who cares about the DA?
The importat thing is going to cheack the account information, click in manage keys, and see a complete list. That's more important.

Anything greater than 6 months old after their novelty wore off is fair game to put in the online store. (Though it will be hard to buy physical stuffs like the Soundtrack or the Artbook from the online store, but the other ingame stuffs should be doable.)
For example, the GotY upgrade is already in there. Don't need to buy another Prophecies campaign to use GotY.
And, the online store seriously need more of various stuffs for sale if anet wants to promote their mission pack. Not everyone wants to get another 3 mule slots just to make up the $29.99.

You didn't shell out for it in the first place when GW:CE was just out, those who did took a gamble with a completely new MMO, the Collectors Edition items are their rewards for doing so.
Asking for them is a bit cheeky, and probably a kick in the nuts for those who gave GW a chance first.
+ it's been said a million times before, NO. NO. NO.
Also, don't make a thread about a hair stylist or asking about mounts.

P.S. if you want it that badly, : http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/GUILD-WARS-COL...QQcmdZViewItem

Another dead horse beaten some more. Like many have said, its not going to happen. Numerous times its been brought up and every time its been shot down. I can say that if they were to release any CE bonus through the ingame store all the faith that I held in the game would be gone. To release an "exclusive" thing to the masses would mean them going back on their word and breaking faith to their players. Imagine them releasing GW2 and then 6 months later (as according to darkkinghtkain, its novelty would then be worn off) and they shut down the GW1 servers. Would piss alot of people off and would be them going back on their word. I'd imagine that alot of those not playing GW2 already would leave the company for something else since they wouldnt be able to trust the company. I would leave them even if I was playing GW2. Just like if they were to rerelease the CE items in the store, would be a loss of faith and loss of customers.

Ok i understand that its special items restricted to the old player and a privilege because they got the game first, but what's special about having those old players sell it on ebay for 625$!
If ANET don't want to put it online they can really release new set of collector's edition with NEW SPECIAL WEAPONS OR ITEMS that where not available in the old Collector boxes for the OLD PLAYERS, and thus allowing new fans to get their share!!!
After all we all love the game or wouldn't be spending that time in it or on its fan sites! and yes i agree, ANET gotta have somemore stuff to sell in that store then the mere xtra slots.
I think that would be fair....

Well, just the account codes is not the full collectors.
No map, no DVD, no pins, no special videos, no soundtrack redemption codes, no manual, no concept artbook no...
Well... you get the drill. Just an update like the Million edition one.

I really hope they don't allow people to buy the collectors edition online. I would feel cheated, sorry guys you should have been quicker.

Why didnt they have special dances for core classes in Factions and NF as well? That would solve the problems for people with divine auras.
Obviously they could have just made them different to divine auras. E.G maybe if you have factions CE you type /dancefac and get spirits dancing with you on any class. Or if you have NF CE, you type /dancenf and get a disco ball on any character class.
I would be happy with something like this. Still no divine aura, but at least I get something on my Elly and Monk for having the other CE's.

Hench the name Collector's Edition, it is for those truly wanting to add a little flair to the game. It would a bit disappointing for those who actually bought the collector's and then to see a flood of flirt-mentalists all over presearing. Divine Aura is a sign of devotion to spend the cash to get a little perk with the emotes.
Heck, I bought the original and then the Collector's Edition for both Prophecies and Factions. After being stressed and annoyed from a particular MMORPG, and seeing the wonders and no-online-fees and such easy and relaxing enviroment Guild Wars offered, I couldn't help but to search for this item.
Consider this: how much of the time you play involves using emotes? Other than to dance on that poor assassin in AB or to fail Rock, Paper, Scissors against Mad King Thorn, it is not such a big thing to worry about.
It is also like festival hats, you miss it, then too bad. Once the once-in-a-game-time opportunity shows up, it is the player's responsibility to get what they want.
Also, would you want to spend a lot of cash for something you would use until Guild Wars 2 comes out? I mean that game is coming in the near future, and it probably is a better idea to save the money for any Collector or Special Editions that may appear.
Be grateful for a game without the online fees, spawn-camping, pop culture references, and a game in which money is to get what you want (instead of repairing weapons/armor).
But one things for sure: You cannot turn in a stack of Mud Bricks for Divine Aura. xD

if they ever do this, then I want my chance to buy also via online store all the preoder badges.
I missed the one of Nightfall, imo the best one with the most nicest custom weapon of all, the Icy Soul Breaker Scythe, or how its named correctly...
I never had the change to get this preoder thign, I tried it at the hsop, where i also got my fist 2 CE's through preordering, but all the stuff was instantly ASAP sold out 1 day after release of them.. I was only like "WT god damn holy ****" !!!! I was really disappointed, how less codes anet has given out for the NF preorder thing it seems, that 24hours after release are all sold out in an online shop, that was before GW existed not very well known.
if i ever wanted one specific Scythe weapon for my Dervish, then its this preorder scythe. damnit, heck anet could create at least for all of us unlucky ones some stupid reskins of those weapons, they even made now god damn reskins with the deldrimor items from certain BMP weapons !!!!
What is so freaking wished too much, to make of this one here
a nice reskin. make it a craftable gold weapon or so, being dyable, comes out when created in grey and iwll look similar, to the soulbreaker.. maybe a bit longer, with silver staff grip, instead of a golden one.
This is really personally the only real nice lookign scythe of the whole game. GIVE US A RESKIN !!!
However, i personally don't care about the dance emotes, they can be buyable or so, but the Divine aura should stay definetely UNIQUE and CE only
