infectious races

when making a guild wars character the first thing you notice is that you can only make a human characters of different ethnic origins. it would be really cool if they would introduce races that if such as vampire that if they kill you, you would become "infected" altering your apearance slightly and giving you strengths and weaknesses. like boosted blood magic and say much more vulnerable to holy/smiting magic giving more of a role to a underplayed profession. similarly to lightbringer title track you can advance vampire rank and become stronger and gain the ability if you become "the master vampire" to infect other players through pvp. this would allow other char types other than necro to gain the equivalent to runes in blood attribute and would make secondary prfosions more of a role. yet have other races say werewolve where you get a boost in stregth appealing to other character classes. it would be cool if you could control transformations and for better or for worse you would randomly "transform", and add like a feature where if you kill someone in that form in pvp he becomes infected and can only cure himself by killing the werewolf that bit him, adding a sort of questing to pvp.
the races can be whatever i wouldnt mind if they made them up but it would add more fun to pvp competition.

Don't see it happening in GW. Sounds like a splendid idea for White Wolf's World of Darkness when that comes out, though. Or it may be a fun, limited time, thing for a Halloween event.

This, imo, is really stupid...there will not be any new races, Anet has made this loud and clear...and implementing this in GW1 would give these 'infected' people an edge in pvp, something Anet doesnt want. This is never going to happen in GW1...i suppose it's possible for GW2 but i doubt it...

PvP-incompatible.
I would agree with the halloween thing.
And they could fix the 'Find Out Brother tosai' to actually become an Afflicted for a few minutes in the last part of the 'Drink from the Chalice' quest.

For GW2:

If they can have the currently announced races with racial abilities, I don't see why it couldn't be done for this aswell.
I would sure add another layer of immersion, if players have to avoid infection in particular hazarduous areas or can choose to give in to "corruption".

Making it a Halloween thing sounds good, but not something that actually effects the game's mechanics.
For GW2? Maybe.

If you watch the developer interviews, they tell you on there that they rely heavily on story lines throughout Guild Wars.
Where would you fit "vampires" into all that?
They are giving you playable races, wait until GW2 then you can have fun with them. But for now, ANET have stated time and again that the current engine, graphics , whatever cannot sustain this and this is a pointless discussion regarding playable characters in GW1.

cool for roleplay, not pvp. I would like to see something like this in GW2

This would b cool to have in gw, it could b pve only to make it far, and you could only gain it throught questing not by other players, but it ether way it would buff(would also weakin you sum how to even it out) u just depedning on how. here a good exapmple-
You can talk to the 4 people one makes you a vampie(gives you red eyes maby,i always wanted my necro to have red eyes, maby changes you in other ways), one a werewolf(will change you physicly sumhow), one more maby one that make you become possed.
If GW2 has a day/night cycle this may work
All but syating the same would give
Vampie- you get stronger and faster at night but you have dengen during day(not strong) or maby permant conditions during the day
Werewolf- Have more strength and agility at night(never during day) but you have a weakness to certion weapons or spells.
Become possed- You are stronger and faster during the day and night, but you are weaker to all types of spells.
Stay same- nothing happens
It could work but if done wrong could become rly unfair so, or course it wouldn't be exactly like i said. It could b cool but i hope they don't put it in, i mean if you ever play The elder scrolls 3 and 4 you no why u can become way to strong

Please, just...no...GW is already becoming more like a typical MMO, and we dont need anything else to RED ENGINE GORED ENGINE GORED ENGINE GORED ENGINE GO it up. These ideas will fo sho not work in GW1, and frankly, with GW2 looking to be highly competitive, I dont think they will implement this because of balance. (Unless, of course, they are going to forsake that as well...).
And can anyone say griefers? Some ass walking around as a werewolf infecting others who do not want to be infected...I know thats a risk you run in any MMO with these kind of...options...but GW has enough rage-quitters, leechers, and other things, we don't need griefers as well
Also, @ populationcontrol: Please, please, please use correct capitalization. Some of your messages are hard to read.
And Leaderfreak, what is possed? Seriously, I cannot tell what you are trying to type...

Thread Necromancy ftl?
Could a mod close this, since we all know it's not going to happen until GW2.

wow necromancy.
Anyway, /notsigned because this has a bad history in video games.
According to a news article I once read, they introduced this "plague" in either Runescape or WoW (can't remember, pretty sure it was WoW). It spread so fast that just about everybody in the game had it in a matter of days and it severely crippled the game until a patch was released restricting it to a specific area.
Highly infectious pathogens in tight nite metropoplises = BAD. Math ftw.
