ok well i tried installing GW on windows vista...and from what i herd it DOES work, but i cannot get passed "connecting to areananet" i have left it for over an hour and it hasnt budged from that one spot. i will post a screen shot of where its stuck. If anyone has encountered this problem and knows how to fix this pls let me know. i could really use it
u can tell by the screen shot that i am running windows vista. i have the 32 bit one on my pc.
i have had guild wars work on the same computer before, but i had windows xp at the time, and ever since i have gotten windows vista all i see is that screen shown
connecting to ArenaNet... (not connecting)

I also am having this same problem so instead of creating a new thread i hope to get help in this one also^^.
Well Guild Wars was working for two days ago and then i decided to run CCleaner by a friend suggestion(maybe it deleted something important??). Now my Guild Wars gets the same connecting message as the one pictured above. I am currently using a decent computer 2GB Ram, alot of hard-drive space left40GB+, cable-internet, and Windows XP but I cannot get past that loading screen. I then attempted to re-install and it will not allow me to Arena-Net on through the download client on their website.
Any help would be appreciated, and sorry for sort of hijacking your thread but the problems were really similar.

Try turning off spybot if you have it installed.

I mean turn it off if it's running. I get that problem whenever I have spybot running and I try to download a GW update. You can turn it back on after all the updates are done.

Have you tried turning off your various virus protection programs?
Have you tried turning off everything unnecessary that's running in the background?
Have you tried reinstalling?
Did you edit the desktop icon to run GW.exe with special commands?
Do you have any bot software running?
