natural disasters
populationcontrol
it would be cool if very rarely in the pve areas natural disasters could occur, if at the beach have a tsunami or in mountains an avalanch. they wouldnt necesarily have to kill you as you could avoid them or predict them. in any case exploring should have an element of risk. maybe they could make certain areas really prone to volcano eruptions or whatever to add some challenge. if you could get to the core of these "hard to explore" places and like place ur "guild flag", getting cartographer rank might be more fun// hard
super strokey
I dont think the engine is designed for this to happen randomly. I could be wrong though
Delta_24
I don't think this would be able to be implemented in GW1, but I wouldn't rule it completely out of GW2. Seems similar to the example of the dragon, which you could choose to fight or just let it do what it wants. This could have an effect that you need to help people get out of the situation they're in because of the disaster.

Oni pop-ups are evil enough "natural disasters" >.<
Aera
the level of some GW players could be considered a natural distaster...isn't that enough?
and ya you might see that stuff in GW2, but not in GW1

MithranArkanere
There area Already Environment effects, like water, lava, icy ground, mud, etc...
Government Flu
Perhaps in the future that idea will be implemented into another RPG at another time, but right now ArenaNet needs to focus on other details. I for one would like to see a bow with an actual string attached to it before any other effect.

And just where do rangers hide that many arrows. They dont have a quiver on their backs and thats where they load them from!
And how does a paragon chuck that many spears....has he got some little invisible golf cart behind him with a gazillion spears in it?

Things like this have been suggested before. Unfortunately, the game engine can not handle things like weather or day/night sequences. And seeing as how it's simply not possible for this suggestion to become reality (in GW1, anyway)...
