E/W or something better?

i have an ele/mes that has been my main char since prophecies. i love her dearly. however now i am wanting to try something different and fun. i am just a casual PVE player, so i am not trying to be all uber l33t or whatever it is. i just started a new ele in cantha last night, but i haven't picked her secondary yet. i was going to do warrior but got to looking around and wondered if i shouldn't go assassin or dervish instead? like i said i just want to try something new and different and if i wind up hating it later then that's ok too, but i gotta at least try! so any suggestions as to what could make an interesting secondary here? i have seen some very creative things on these boards before so i know you guys can help me out here!

Ok, If I'm being sensible I'd have to go *slap*...Pull yourself together! E/W is a horrible combination and should never be considered! You're squishy etc.. etc.. etc..
About the only thing E/W combination had going for it is [skill]"You're All Alone!"[/skill]+[skill]Stoning[/skill]+[skill]Glowstone[/skill]
However...if you're only wanting to do it for fun, and not planning on joining PuGs and really annoy your team's monks...I once tried an E/A build which has horrible energy management.
[skill]Glyph of Lesser Energy[/skill][skill]Ride the Lightning[/skill][skill]Frozen Burst[/skill][skill]Lightning Touch[/skill][skill]Death's Retreat[/skill][skill]Arc Lightning[/skill][skill]Lightning Strike[/skill][Optional Slot]
Basically use in order... GoLE > Ride the Lightning to target foe (best if there are a few foes in a cluster) > hit them with Frozen Burst followed by Lightning Touchm get out with Death's Retreat (or Return, if you don't have Nightfall), then spam Arc and Strike afterwards. Optional slot can be filled with a res, or air attunement, or maybe caltrops.
Please note: the build I gave above is Crap, with a very large, emboldened, capital C....but if you want fun for 5 mins...
I mean, you could always go for the predictable, boring Confure + Elemental Weapon routine...

E/W is, generally speaking, a bad choice.
Eles shouldn't melee, they don't have anywhere near the damage output of Derv or Warriors, or near the survivability (unless you go Earth, in which case your damage will suck hard).
The only saving grace of /W is the same stuff I'd use on other casters in Arenas and other PvP - Ripostes, Shield Bash, Disciplined Stance as melee defense. However, this crap ain't so vital on an ele - not only are they lower prority targets, they also have decent melee hate in their own lines - Wards, B-surge etc. - AND there's more useful things they can do with their secondary, like spam Draw Conditions.
/A gives you... uhm... Shadowstep abilities? ... If you wanna be some crappy point-blank ele. Not particularly good in any sense of the word, but... if you get shits & giggles from it, whatever.
Also... there's Augury of Death if you really need a deepwound.
Oh, they make decent farmers with Shadow Form, too.
/D... Gives Mystic Reneration, if you want to waste your secondary on self-healing, rather than something useful.

yeah i think i have seen the light...there is no fun in wanting to beat your head against your desk. it was interesting to try but i guess i will make her more of a traditional ele now. thanks for your guys opinions though. i don't feel so bad for giving up on something lol.

For something different I played through Factions with a human torch build “just for fun before change in AI”. I was a ranger secondary and all skills like starburst or immolate inferno and added serpent’s quickness
I would follow a warrior in for up close and personal blastathon. Then retreated to recharge, but monsters balled up in tight little balls back then. No wrong choice here
