Attributes Not Being Recognised?

Hey guys.

I'm having a peculiar problem and just thought I'd do the noob check here first.

Y'all know that you can assign attribute values to your character - ok, good.

Sometime between logging out on Saturday and logging back in on Sunday, this broke for my Warrior. I can still shuffle the attributes around, but it doesn't effect the weapon - it still thinks the requirements aren't met. There's this little icon in the bottom right in the Inventory, and the text for requirements (e.g., "Requires 3 Axe Mastery") is greyed out.

I've logged a fault with PlayNC who - somewhat unhelpfully - closed the call with some BS message showing they really didn't read the original fault - it's like they think I'm describing an overall game bug, rather than one specifically to do with my character (and it's just this character, others in the account seem to do ok):

The Axe I'm using is obtained as a quest reward, so it's doing Starter Axe damage, which is (in no way) amusing It's a bit inconsistent as when I'm not doing a Mission it seems to do respectable damage (although the UI still shows it as not meeting the requirements), but if I'm trying to do a Mission it breaks and goes to "Captain Crud" damage. Usefully I'd just got a sword and an axe upgrade so sold my last axe without any Axe Mastery requirements, leaving me in something of a quandry.

Has anyone seen this behaviour before? Do you have a workaround or a fix? I've spent a bit of time trawling the forums without much luck.

The damage is reduced because of your foes' Armor Rating. e.g. +40 is equivalent of taking ~half damage.

I don't think that's it - when doing The Great Northern Wall, I found a crud Axe, which was damage 4-9. My axe is "6-16" (which is 3-8 using their rules of not meeting requirements). The crud axe did about the same damage as my "better" axe. I still think it's bugged, as I was yielding better damage with a worse weapon against level 8 mobs up around the Courthouse yesterday.

It also doesn't explain the little icon next to the weapon.

Ok, what is your att point in Axe? And what's the req on the axe you're using? Let say if you have 12 in axe, and the req is 8. You can do max dmg on your default attack, but not all the time, depending on the monster armor rating as well. The real dmg comes from the axe skills anyway.

And the req text next to the weapon is always in grey, nothing to worry about.

The weapon I'm using requires 3 Axe Mastery. I've currently got 6 in Axe Mastery (hey, I'm a miniature poodle! I'm only little, level 10).

The lowest damage I've seen from the weapon is 3, and the highest I've seen ("white damage," no specials) is 8. It's never hit above ten. The weapon damage range is 6-16.

Question: the little, I think it's a circle, icon in the inventory one the weapon itself - that means requirements not met, correct? I get it with any weapon with requirements now, regardless of whether I meet the requirements. I don't have it on other characters who's weapons have requirements that they've met, so I've assumed it's to do with reqs and not something else.

Am I going mad?

That little dot on the top right corner of the weapon icon? That's just to show you, that it's being equip right now in the weapon slot.

Also you should focus all your att points on the axe for now, use the headgear that give you +1 in axe, also get an axe rune and put that on the head as well, use the minor rune for now. Then put the rest of att points into tactic and str, use minor runes to buff them up as well. And see if there's any different in dmg out put.

Just played around with that, that's exactly what it is - when you have a weapon in your quick slot (f1-f4) it gets the icon.

Well that makes some sense.

Ok I've done some more playing.

If I put all my points into Axe, it puts out some impressive damage (comparitively).

I still need to get the armour and hat upgrade, I'll work on those.

Now this is interesting: if I go back to Great North Wall quest, I'm back to doing like 3 points of damage against anything (even Char with this axe's +15% to Char). But if I go to Fork Ranik, it does massive damage against Char of higher levels and all kinds of goodness, I saw it hit 55 points with one shot and the usual was more like 30 (against warriors and blade storms, which I expect have some decent armour).

So I went back out into Old Ascalon - pink, pink, 3 points again.

Either the mobs in Old Ascalon have about a billion points of armour, or something very odd is going on. I'll play wiht it some more, see if I can get some informaiton that makes this consistent - but thanks all for your help.

(Now I'm going to farm stuff for my hat).

Maybe in Fort Ranik, you're hitting big damage constantly because... You had good luck, and you kept on achieving a Critical Hit. Since you DID add more points in to Axe Mastery, your chances of Critical Hits should increase.

I havn't been back to ascalon for ages, so i don't remember the skill set on those charrs. Maybe their monk used shielding hand or reversal of fortune, which reduced the dmg and protected whoever has those on. Also I think the charr blades can use watch yourself, whice buff the armor rate on themself.

The Charr Warrriors use Frenzy, so they take double damage. They don't have "Watch Yourself!" That's the only damage/armor related skill the Charr use in Normal Mode...

There is also the fact that no matter what the req of a weapon, you will not be doing the max damage it can handle, unless you have a 12 in the req.

People like this send in a support ticket. I mean, no offense to the OP, but this is cluttering the support, and taking attention away from the real issues.

There used to be a problem with one of the items in Ascalon (quest reward or collector, I don't recall which) that caused the +damage mod to actually decrease your overall output. It could be the same one the OP is carrying.

That would make sense, if the AM benefits increase crit chance... I think the base has gone up too, but it's hard to be structured and truly empirical with this data.

That might do it. I was noticing the damage poorly applied to all mobs in The Great Northern Wall (Grawl / those insect thingos / Char), but that's not to say that they don't have some sort of armour buff ability across the board. The damage was worst against Char.

Already done that (see original post). Not having a lot of luck there. They seemed to imply there was a problem worthy of "developers" looking into, but wouldn't provide me any specifics on it.
