Need a little help.
Seifer Swiftslash
Hi. I'm about to get Factions (soon) and would like to make a assassin when i get it. So I need a build that would be good for Factions story. Thanks for the help.

God. Why does everyone need a good build asap? You still have to make your character. Don't worry about builds until you are level 20 and have a decent set of elites.

ur starter skills are pretty good if u learn how to use them correctly

i agree with belgian cat-boy. just play around with the skills you have at early stages. once you have max armor, wpns, and some elites to play around with you can start worrying about a strong build

Because they don't like being subjected to disparaging remarks from people who spend *way* too much time in Team Arena?
I know revenge is a bad motivator, but that far-from-classy Ele player made me look for Temple Strike just a bit harder.

Made a beggining build that is
Dancing Daggers, Black Lotus Thrust, Disrupting Strike, Fox Fangs, Jungle Strike, Death Blossom, Impale and Heart of Shadow.
I believe this build could be effective.
I would post them in a skill bar except I don't know how.
Comment on my makeshift build.

I think a problem worse than that is everyone needs their own custom tailor made build apparantly, because even when they make it to the right part of the forum they refuse to look into any of the 100's of other posts about people wanting the exact same thing.

The henchment in Shing Jea island certainly do not care. I simply said that you cannot start making a build until you're level 20, got all attribute points, and have a few elites/decent armor/Weaponry setup.

I would post them in a skill bar except I don't know how. Comment on my makeshift build. Ok this is better, instead of asking for a build, make a new one, I'll try to improve it. First of all, the dagger chains are a bit messed up. I think you probably thought of going [skill]Black Mantis Thrust[/skill][skill]Fox Fangs[/skill][skill]Death Blossom[/skill] [skill]Impale[/skill] and then [skill]Disrupting Stab[/skill][skill]Jungle Strike[/skill][skill]Death Blossom[/skill]. That's not an ideal chain. You would want a long chain(long chain = more damage, but also harder on energy, and more prone to interrupt/block/miss) but they should recharge fast. I suggest slimming it down. [skill]Moebius Strike[/skill] is an excellent elite skill for that, but you only get it late in the game (kurzick side ).A good combo would be [skill]Leaping Mantis Sting[/skill][skill]Exhausting Assault[/skill][skill]Moebius Strike[/skill][skill]Death Blossom[/skill]. That is all you need, because MS and DB recharge in 2 seconds, and you can chain them forever, untill your target dies or you run out of energy. But with 13+Critical Strikes, you shouldn't. 2nd of all: No elite. Don't bother about real builds untill you have them. 3rd of all: Dancing Daggers is a bet lost there..I don't really see a use, as you already have 2 other lead attacks. Dual attacks are the best, followed by Off-hands, because they're needed for dual attacks.(exception: [skill]Exhausting Assault[/skill]) 4th: No resurrection. Take a res signet, or another res from a secondary profession. 5th: [skill]Heart of Shadow[/skill] is a bad skill. Not only does it teleport you to a random location ( in a pile of monsters for example ), the healing is also pretty crappy. 6th: You're using 4 attributes right now: Dagger Mastery, Deadly Arts, Shadow Arts, Critical Strikes. To be effective in all of them, you need to invest attribute points. At max, you only have 200. Spreading them all would actually make you less effective. I suggest using only 2, or 3 attribute lines. For instance, drop Shadow Arts, let the healing be done by the monks/ritualists. 7th: I'd bring utility. A speed boost, an interrupt, a snare. Sure, you have [skill]Disrupting Stab[/skill] but you lack anything else. Use the combo I gave you , add some utlity skills + a res and you should be good to go. If I used any wording that is unclear to you, look them up on this site Seifer Swiftslash
No unclear words. I do have Guild Wars btw completed Nf just getting Factions and Prophecies to complete their stories. And as for no elites it a starter build. And I think I'm going to be Luxon as my guild is Luxon.

Also only want skills from Michiko in Kaineng Center to start until I can get a elite like Locust Strike or a useful elite. Thanks for help though.

New build idea for starting up is Sharpen Daggers, Critical Eye, Black Mantis Thrust, Exhausting Assualt, Wild Strike, Death Blossom, Dark Escape and Res.
Activate Sharpen Daggers and Critical Eye, use Black Mantis Thrust as lead, then able to spam Wild Strike and Death Blossom (low energy cost and recharge is quick) and they do more damage due to Sharpen Daggers and Critical Eye. Bobby2

Eh? Why not suggest dropping another lead? By my knowledge, DD is the most damaging lead available. Besides the reasonable recharge time, it's ranged (!) and cheap.

Because you get a snare and an interrupt which are more useful than energy in this chain. Four attack skills is still pretty efficient. Bobby2
It's a shame that Sins have no other non-Elite interrupts, I'll give ya that. But still, [skill]Siphon Speed[/skill] into [skill]Black Spider Strike[/skill] or [skill]Black Lotus Strike[/skill] seems more sensible to me if you're hung up about the snare. But this might just be a noob's misconception
Yanman.be
Eh Siphon Speed is a 1 sec cast in half range. I start to run away if I see that, preparing myself to interrupt his BSS/BLS. That is where Leaping Mantis Sting comes in.. I interrupt the other guy's chain/skills so I can live. It's both offense and defense.
Same with Dancing Daggers. running in into half range, casting for 1 second and still have to go melee range takes too long. I prefer to go straight melee and snare him. Then interrupt what ever the target uses to fight back. BLS/BSS also rc slower. Kiba of hidden leaf

It's wonderful isn't it? Usually by the time you used Leaping Mantis they start to react as you use your interupt(for example a monk uses guardian on himself or a ranger tries to interupt you). Sometimes i even interupt Ineptitude or Blind
Bobby2
By the sound of it neither of you Shadow Steps in any way. So you run a speed boost alongside it, right? [skill]Dash[/skill]? And if so, no Hexes hindering you on your run into cc?

Alright.... The Coto's advice time.
As Yanman said at the start... "builds" come later. At the start you just want to find bits and pieces that can be used to make a build later. You need things that work. Generally, from what I've found, a build is constructed AROUND an Elite Skill.... and you only start getting Elite Skills once you get off Shing Jea Island. Until that point, my advice is to find a simple combo that you're comfortable with and stick some survival / utility skills in with it (Shadow Refuge and Dash are fairly standard)... Try to avoid the complicated stuff until later. A very standard, simple and spammable combo is the classic [skill]Jagged Strike[/skill][skill]Wild Strike[/skill][skill]Death Blossom[/skill]. All three of the skills cost 5 energy and recharge VERY quickly. You have a bit of degen in there, a stance-breaker, and a splash of AoE damage. You might not have a snare, but then you could use Leaping Mantis Sting instead of Jagged Strike if you really think you need it (AI enemies don't generally run away, plus it takes a bit longer to recharge if you miss). This combo can miss and not mess up, or even be interrupted... and is still instantly usable. A good low-risk base standard.... Not amazingly devastating, but then on Shing Jea it doesn't need to be. Once you get off Shing Jea..... pretty much the first Elite Skill you will be able to find (in Bukdek Byway) is [skill]Palm Strike[/skill]. Unfortunately.... this Elite is rather crap from my experience. I haven't found a decent use for it. I'd suggest just avoiding it. If you get the quest to fight Waeng... or manage to find Lou of the Blades south of Tahnnakai Temple later, you can get your hands on [skill]Flashing Blades[/skill]. This is a decent defensive skill. It doesn't really synergise with much though. It should hold you over until you find something better though, and with high Dagger Mastery it can be kept up all the time. You won't find much else of use inside Kaineng City.... but once you set foot outside to the south (Pongmei Valley)... you can find Luekao the Deceptive... and get [skill]Assassin's Promise[/skill]. Now, this is the elite that I personally swear by. I like things simple, so I generally stick with the simple combo I mentioned earlier.... complete with Impale on the end, and it usually proves enough for most PvE situations.... along with Dark Prison, Dash and a last skill dependant on the situation. Some folks prefer to use Assassin's Promise for black-lining.... with things like the Black Lotus Strike and Black Spider Strike.... but I usually find I get frustrated by these as if so much as one of them misses then the entire attack is messed up, no matter how powerful it might be. Likewise others prefer to put fewer points in Deadly Arts and try to slam Assassin's Promise in at the last moments, whereas I do the opposite... Matter of taste really... But in any case.... Assassin's Promise is the first really good Assassin Elite you'll be able to get your hands on. Most of the other ones of mention are in Echovald (or the Jade Sea if you prefer, as most elite skills in Cantha have a representative in each of the two areas). As Yanman said.... [skill]Moebius Strike[/skill] is a very nifty skill and well worth getting... BUT, since you need to get to the deepest depths of Echovald Forest to capture it, you will have to get through most of Cantha without it.... You might want to send your Assassin over to Elona at first oppurtunity.... get past Consulate Docks... then go track down [skill]Way of the Assassin[/skill], as that is also a very nice elite. Once you have a few of these Elites, THEN you can concentrate on figuring out skill combinations that work well with them. |
