If the Guild Wars Store allowed you to buy "Gift" items (Trial keys for a friend etc)
LumpOfCole
Then could you see yourself using it for gifting purposes to try and get your friends into Guild Wars? I wonder how much potential revenue there is for Anet if there were some gifting options in the GW Store.

Free trial keys are just fine. No I wouldn't BUY one.
-if Ncsoft/Arenanet wants me to plug their product, they will supply me with the means for free, or they will get no promoting from me. (this doesn't apply just here, this applies to everything in life)

I'd purchase quite a number of trial keys (e.g. 10 hour, 14 day blocks) at $2.00 a piece, especially if I knew they could be integrated with a complete key. In fact, I can think of at least four people that I would purchase a key. To be frank, however, I probably wouldn't pay a cent if they were more than that.

I think that not only would Trial Keys be good, but we should be able to buy people other kinds of gifts. I mean, they have this kind of thing in other games, and I think it would be a great addition to the shop.
For example, if we did get the option to buy people gifts, I would buy around a big cuddly teddy bear, to remind him just how much I love him. And then I'd buy him some chocolates. I love you around.

I think that Guild Wars should just give out free 3 day buddy keys that are restricted such that you can't get off the noob areas or that you can't do vital storyline quests/missions. It's frankly silly that I can't give people interested in GW buddy keys so they can't trial the game.

Allow owners to Spawn keys - these are you usual 14/10 trails but are tagged to a user account. Cannot spawn more untill the previous trail has expired, if anyone upgrades a trail account to a full account - offer the original user a reward
1 player recruited - 15 crémé Brúle's
2 players - A unique skinned item (possibly another Design-a-weapon entry)
3 players - A namechange/hair stylsit (or plastic surgeon if the GW:EN rumors are true) token
4 Players - Another weapon
5 - 20/an everlasting Rurik tonic
...those are rough ideas but you get the point

You can't see me
I don't think that would bring in much revenue, as people are reluctant to spend real money anyway. (At least the majority)
I don't think I or others would be anxious to spend money on people they don't even know in real life.

Let the bot reign free YAY.
Thats what would happen if trial keys were that easy to get ahold of.
But hey you can buy 10hr/14Day trials at your local video game shop for 2 bucks.
Only thing I would really like to see be able to be gifted is Character slots. I would really love it if I could by some of my guildies an extra slot.

It would be nice to have a gift option in the GW store.

I have an even better suggestion.
Why doesnt Anet sell things like T shirts, caps, mugs etc in their own store?
Sure, I realize items like that require manufacturing and logistics but my wife and I are both in business and neither of us can figure out why they dont sell a lot more stuff. I know I'd definitely buy such items and considering the creative minds at Anet's art department I'm sure they could come up with some awesome designs that players would definitely buy in interesting numbers.
I also think that the OP has a great idea right there too, I'd probably buy some of those.

I wouldn't support selling trial keys - that would be Bots Gone Wild.
But I'm certainly in favour of "Gift Purchases" from the online shop. There has been a few times over the last couple of years where I've purchased extra codes as gifts for friends. Having the nice-ness of an email a la "This is a Gift Purchase from User XYZ, enjoy your GWEN code!" would be awesome

I would like to refer friends but I will not buy trial keys.
I wish ANet would sell them in game, maybe spend 1K of game gold to have access to be able to email a friend a trial key that could be acccessed from the login screen.

I so like the idea of being able to give gifts. I've suggested it a few times, but with your support and this new thread, I have an excuse to include it in the weekly Community Summary!

no for trial keys, will bring in lots of bots, and no to any things that gives u a title (sugar or drunk).
But yes for souvenirs, OLD masks (hat) which where given during festivals we missed, i'd buy the Divine Aura but no to it, if its collector's edition then keep it collector's edition!!
That would give u more option to spend ur 29.99$ online to get the bonus than 3 empty slots....

Festival Hats are a way of saying your character was "there," though. Although perhaps an account enabler to allow the hats for other characters on your account wear the hats you've earned would be nice though. Or did the update a while back already do that? I forget :P

Unless I'm missing something...How can it support Bots if they can't trade anything? It would be fruitless for them to a trial key only to let the items go to waste when they can't trade the items they find.

For a friend who is currently in Sweden, I bought a $1.99 trial key to see if she would get into the game. She completely ate it up (started with Nightfall) although I did have to hands-on teach a lot to her. But she found some very friendly people when I wasn't online and learned more things! 2 hours quickly turned into 10 and she found herself at the end of the trial period already. I wanted to buy the game for her but there was no gift option, so I had to go to a store, buy the physical Nightfall, and just give her the key over IM. At least I have a standard edition box to go with my collector's edition box I suppose, even though she's going to come to Florida later to probably get that as well, since it was a complete gift and all :P
