Well guys, let me put this way and i'm sure many of u guildies will see what i mean:
U can spent 5k inviting ppl to join a guild and then non of them will stay in it, u might have a fully loaded guild hall, but still ppl leave for no reason at all, they r just looking for a guild joins in for a couple of days if not hours then leave......
Well, the thing is if when u send ur invitation to someone, and they accept it i think they should pay the 100g u pay for inviting them (or at least something), that way they would think twice before leaving or at least it would be an in out flow, ur not the only one spending ur gold, that would give some compensation. I know its not much but still....
On another level, i think it would be a great idea if there would be some king of guild vault, let me xplain:
When i go into the guild hall, i buy stuff from the merchant, scrolls, runes... etc., the money goes... where no one knows, well it would be gr8 if there was some kind of guild vault where a portion (percentage) of this money is left, and which the guild owner can only use to upgrade his guild (in addition to his private money). the money in that vault should be restricted to guild use, and will be destroyed if the guild is disbanded. the owner should not be allowed to take it.
Just for the record, I do not own a guild but i'm in the same guild since i join GW, and i try to contribute from my own gold to help it grow.
I hope u guys will like the idea, plz let me know what u gamers think ....

And it is bad practice new members should pay, it should be the guilds service to its new members and than again, it is only 100g...

You don't join a Guild because it has fancy Guild Hall upgrades, but because it gives you closer contact to a group of people to play the game with (and the ability to do GvG)!!!

All upgrades in the Guild hall are nice but nowhere required to let it function, mainly fancy stuff. It is the challenge to get the gold with the guild as a group and pay for the upgrades like you can go for your personal title, now you do it for the group. Although I admit this has got a bit more difficult with farming code update, the prices are less easy paid now. |
When i say the guild is great i didn't mean by it that it had a good guild hall-full stop; rather than a + to the fact that also the guildies are fun to talk to and do mission with.
for the upgrades in the GH, if no guild vault than maybe a 5% discount on the local market's price? or a 10% discount, don't know if it will work just thinking....

Most players take everything for granted, all the ''good/loyal'' players have already been taken.
Only way to get people to stay is when they have a goal the Guild can help with (Farming, PvE/PvP) or when they are close to you.
I think Arena Net should get rid of the ridicules fee that comes with inviting people or allow people to only join a Guild once a month.

When we invite new members to our guild, we ask them to pay half the fee (50g). If the invitee is serious about joining us, then it's a trivial amount in return for the help they'll get from us as a member. If the invitee leaves, we haven't lost the entire invite fee. It also helps to do a few quests/missions with invitees before inviting them, as it'll give you an indication as to what they're like as a player before you spend any gold on them. Standing in Shing Jea spamming for new members is generally a quick way to spend a lot of gold on players who leave straight away.

Are you just treating the guild as an expanded friends list? Most people won't stay in a guild that doesn't do stuff together.

thats the challnage of a guild, anyone can get members but keeping them is the problem.
maybe have daily activities, ora close nit guild chat
amybe quest, mission or ab to get to know them

The guild is great u know, its not mine but i see everybody helping newbies, veterans ... they hold in guild activities, they have GvG, they help PvP Pve, everything...
I remember when i joined it and wanted to go to FoW for the 1st time, they spent 1 hour teaching me what to do and what skills i need down there!!!
But the issue is not about the guild i'm in, i'm talking in general, ppl find it so easy to join and leave, i think it should be restricted, and they should pay money if they want to join in return, joining fee, same as inviting fee.
I think both parties should pay!!!
