Idk about you guys, but it certainly bugs me when I see the new party bar. Why the hell did they remove the option when you could resize it in both directions? Give me ONE good reason! I am used to drag it all the way dawn so that there is empty space below the party memebers. Now it's harder for me to monk as well (I was away for some time), I can't and don't want to get used to it. It's just stupid, why would they "update" something like this. At least give us an option to resize it like before, atm it totally sucks.

There is a thread about this already.

Most monks agree though.

I'm sorry I searched for 'party screen' and 'party bar' and found nothing... Can you give me a link please?

Actually if you think about it just a lil bit, WE own it, we pay for the game and they update things so that we can enjoy them. Without the players there is no game. Not that such a thing would make anyone leave, but the reason you gave is anything but a good one.

No we don't own it, same with music, dvd movies and software, this is just as the world spins, it doesn't matter what do you think.

Actually there is some sense in it. Look at it this way: They own the game, they own your characters, so they could anything with your account, with the game including the partybar. Don't know what the reason behind changing it was.

They make lazy bum improvements, just like this auto-targetting.

The toggle for such features is not optional, but a must nowadays. Then everyone would be happy.

I'm trying to get a handle on whay a monk would want the extra gray space at the bottom, but anywhoo...

i like the auto-resize party screen. i was always having to re-size. not that big of deal, cosmetic improvement really, but i like it.

I monk (have for more than 2 years) and I love it! I utterly fail to see how an automatically resizing party bar influences your monking at all other than to save you the trouble of having to resize it all the time.

Now the + buttons to collapse and expand allies and pets are a different matter... if you don't avoid them when you go to click on a party member that needs a heal, by the time you expand the list again that ally or pet could be dead!... but I only consider that a minor annoyance and adaptation. Took about 3 times of making that mistake before I was cured of it.

To me the resizing party bar has been a godsend. I can't sign your gripe.

It's absolutely annoying. I've been monking for some time now and I still can't get used to this stupid party window. I NEED my blank space below the party member to get a sense of where the window stops. Not only that, it makes me feel more comfortable :<

About the + dropdown, it's absolutely horrid, even worse than the window itself. Every time I go to heal/infuse/prot the Ghostly, I know that once a match I'll click on the ally bar and hide everything. Can we please lock that thing? The drop down is just terrible.

I'm an ele which is starting to learn how to monk (on my monk, duh ) and I must say I don't see the fuss. Unless you're doing Gyala Hatchery the party window doesn't get TOO big.

IMO the idea was pointless, yes, but so severe that you can't play well? I'd say no.

I play monk, and have been for two years. I RED ENGINE GORED ENGINE GORED ENGINE GORED ENGINE GOing love the new party window.. aside from the Allies bar. The entire row which says 'Allies' is clickable, rather than only the little button with the +/- on it. This makes accidental clicking way too common. Fix that and it would be basically perfect.

Other than that, no more resizing every damn time I play with a different number of people. One of the best updates in recent memory.

I never liked the change to begin with. As a monk I was very particular about the size and shape of my party list.

After playing with it for a while I've found that it doesn't make much difference.

In conclusion, chill out, stop whining about every little thing, pick your battles more wisely.

I dont get this arguement. Personally I like the change and I understand why the change was made. I hated the old party menu, cuase i constantly had to fuss with it, it was annoying. I would join a party and that damn menu would jump all over the place and could be any size. Now I have it where I want it, it stays there and doesnt move, and opens to always display all the charactors in the party.

Yes I do monk, have 2 char I play alot Necro (BiP alot) and Monk both support char that require alot of red bar switching, not problems. Took a little while to get used to the collapse bar, but if you arn't frantically clicking those can easily be avoided.

If you're clicking on party members to select them as a Monk, you're doing it wrong.

NumPad FTW.

(even in 12-member areas such as The Deep or Urgoz you can still use 9 / * -)

no, you're stupid. If you sequentially click both buttons, you are wasting too much time and the person you are trying to heal will quite often be spiked down. If you're using two hands, then you cant click to move or WASD to kite. Either way, numpad monking is retarded

At first this change annoyed me because I couldn't change the party window to the size I wanted it, but eventually you get used to it/ don't notice it anymore/ just ignore it. I don't know why they changed this, kind of pointless... I'm ok with it, but i would totally agree for an option to resize it like before.

Just make it one of those things you can chose in the interface tab. That way you can have it autosize or not.

The new party thing is better. Now we don't have to constantly resize it.

I've tried many different hotkey configurations to get the right mesh between ease of use, maneuverability, and reaction time when casting utility. the set I've finally become most comfortable with is the default.

Numpad monking works well for some people. It doesn't work well for me.

On-topic: I both like and dislike this change. I never had trouble resizing my window previously and got used to doing it and the customizability that it offered to the size of my party bar. The new one...not as much. I run GW on a small CRT screen. the new window makes it hard for me to have a big compass, and I like having that feature adjusted larger in my UI because I can't resize the window and scroll-up and down when I have a large party group of allies in PvE or PvP. Its awkward for me, but that may just be because of my small screen.

so /onthefence because my computer screen isn't uber

Now if Anet really wants to improve the party window, they'd give us options for the width size of party MEMBERS. i still know one or two frontliners who will confess to closing the window completely during a fight to improve visibility. Thinner bars for them would let them see what they want to without pressing "P" in-game. In contrast, when the day comes and I can buy another monitor with good resolutions, I'd like it if I could make party member bars a little wider, to help prevent mis-clicks.

Imo the party screen FINALLY works as it should. It's no longer moving around by itself when going to several missions/towns/explorable area's and always exactly has the right size. It's perfect.

You could make it perfect for yourself before. Why didn't they make this part of the options, it could have been fine. You can choose to have it fixed, or you can choose to resize it for yourself. This is how it should be. And I don't understand why do you complain about having to resize it every time? I never even noticed that ppl got annoyed about that. I was used to resizing it every time before I pvp, according to the party members number. And it fas just fine...

Might this new party window system have anything to do with the font turning green when you want to message people? I am having a touble with that and cannot figure it out. Actually I haven't been playing because of it and don't really know about this new party screen you all are talking about.

Guess I better go take a look/see.

Automation without the option for manual is always a bad thing imho. Annoys the hell out of me, like a number of auto features in Word.
