As promised
This isn't a guide, really, more of a 'what would YOU do?'
This is what I tried, but I'm gonna see if my ele can make more of an impact.

That's what I used, which is basically a mutilation of the build I used for jade farming. Just pass the first scale group and get the second and third together, start killing. Go to the big mob (make sure you keep enchants up when getting slowed by all those eles) and slowly (it's a 1-2 minute process) aggro the entire area. Keep up your enchants, and cast echo+SoJ so you have a constant SoJ going. Energy shouldn't be a problem. Make sure you slice one skale at a time, so that they stay there attacking you.
Epic fun, gonna see if a skill set works to kill thema ll at once with my ele.

build is so old it hurts my eyes and it is much easier going monk/necro and dragging the scale to the top right corner of the upside down U shape. They get stuck and die before even 1 SS wears out which on my monk/necro is about 18 seconds.

Yeah, it's a well known farm spot, I make quite a lot of money there myself. There are lots of builds that can handle this area... nothing really new here.
Try the build out in Issnur Isles for a lot more mobs to kill and a change of pace from first city

Make a better build for it, it's not that hard. 
These things do crap damage, I could probably one hit nuke them all if I figured out a way to get past all the ele and necro skale.

All those little '0's are considered damage.

Essence Bond triggers when SoA reduces the damage to zero, not when SH reduces it to Zero.

erm, I always get energy from essence bond with hands. Maybe not, and I just think I am from balths spirit.

yeh, i tried using Essence bond with my 55 necro (with SH's and SOA) i only ever got the energy from Balth =(

That was the NF update, they kite.
I have found that using my 55 in the same area, I stuck with Healing Breeze, especially since Mystic Reg got nerfed. I also use shielding hands, which gives energy, damage goes to zero, and HB can be used to counter the bleeding and deep wound, which thanks to EotN, I smite, giving that extra 60 points of damage to the guys already taking 50 per hit with SoJ. Which is in the area, so you can get them as they kite.

Also - try this out, die once, then clear out your DP, the drops have been better for me, of course I also rotate out my farming areas, never farm the same place twice in a row.

That was HM too...Only three monsters will stay attacking you while damaged...the others will run away and heal.
With SS though, there is a wide V shape of two fallen bricks. If you get it right, they won't be able to run out while SS is hitting all of them. For some reason, they won't turn right to run out of it...Just keep attacking the one with SS or he'll stop and your damage stops

Why? Because you made a comment about people's abilities to deal with kiting, when just a few posts earlier I talked about bodyblocking them.
Also, I mention the V thing because it's the easiest spot that I've been able to find in that little spot MoreArrows
If this is purely for the Skales, getting the skales stuck in the rocks beside the enclosement and then casting SS is the fastest way to go.

lol i was trying this but my build would scatter them and they would wait off to the side until they were health was back up. i wasn't able to kill them so i ran to the smashing anvil waited underneath it til it killed us all lol, easy sunspear farm. over 40 points.
