In the forums that have used this, the amount of spam doesn't drop but it does stop people seeing porn pics etc
Very good solution for a PG13 forum.
Actually I think thats a newer version of forum software then this one currently has, because the idea has been thrown around a bit past the admins. My assumption is that it costs money, and the money is currently being focused on a new server or server upgrade.
As for all the porn/ad links you see, remember this. each time someone posts in it, it gets bumped back to the top of the forum, and more people see it, and they bump it up too. Its frustrating, but people dont really listen. Please, if you dont like to see these, then just report the post and DONT POST IN IT. We delete them as fast as possible, but the mods capable of banning them from posting are not on 24/7, and us normal mods do what we can to keep them at bay. Just report it and walk away. Every forum section has many advertizement deletions per PAGE. Its a ratio of like 1/10 posts being adverts some nights.
Some names are added to the wordfilter, but some things just cant be filtered before becoming an inconvenience to the forum users as well. Dralspire is constantly adding new words to it, if i understand correctly, and is working to eliminate the advertisement problems, but you have to understand that being such a large and successful forum (yes im biased, but look at numbers), we are a prime target for people who want their voices heard...appropriate or not.
The best you can to do to help is use the "report" button and not post in the thread. that way, we get an email about it, and can delete it as soon as we see it.
. We (the mods) will delete them when we get to it.
