Mutual Exclusion for Hero acqusitions?
darkknightkain
Remember how Nightfall had mutual exclusion for Heroes?
Norgu(Me) vs Goren(W)
Jin(R) vs Sousuke(E)
Margrid(R) vs Whispers(N)
Ie. if you are not psychic you just might take the wrong quest and ended up without a Mesmer class hero and/or without a Ranger class hero until after you beat the game? (That Norgu/Goren one was especially tricky.)
Any news/hints that GWEN may have this nasty feature?

Argh, I know what you mean. I was hoping to pick up Norgu with my sin instead of Goren. That was a very, very nasty trick...argh.
I just hope they make it a little more clearer, or add a confirm button saying "Are you sure you want to have Suchand Suchness as a hero?"

cmon, it wasnt that hard to identify them.

"Night has fallen on Vabbi, and the world is more treacherous than ever. I can't stop worrying about my precious Midauha. She's a brilliant scholar, but all those years with her nose in books has not prepared her for such preilous times. She's in Istan now, and I fear for her life. Two young men have been wandering around town looking for work and adventure...Norgu and Goren. Are you acquainted with them? I'm thinking of hiring one of them as a bodyguard, but I'm not at all certain which one to choose. <name>, can you meet me in Resplendent Makuun and help me decide?"
Zerai
"Goren has natural strength and size, but he is a bit on the slow side. Norgu is certainly entertaining and quick on his feet to boot, but that may all be an act. I think they're both fairly trustworthy. What do you think? Who should I send to Istan to protect my beloved, Midauha?"
first choice.- Goren's strength makes him the clear choice. Midauha can do the thinking for him.
second choice.- Norgu will be great entertainment for Midauha and has a knack for getting out of trouble.

I'm sure certain heroes will only be obtaiable in one of the 3 story bubbles, meaning some will probably be obtained before others, yet it alternates depending which way you go first/go all 3 ways at once slowly

I got confused on that one, too. The problem with it is not knowing what the result of your decision will do (unless you read the wiki). Reason being, is up to that point, any quest that "stars" a hero (and going off to help protect someone would sound a lot like a quest), you always "tag along" in a sense. So, choosing Goren or Norgu could have two different results for each. One being you suggest one or the other, and join them in their "quest," the end result being they join your party. The other being what really happens - you send them off and the other joins your party.
It's a bit backwards and quite tricky. Though it doesn't matter a whole lot. You can go on to beat the game without a Mesmer or a second Warrior, and then pick up the one you missed out on there. But I think it's easy to see where one can end up choosing the wrong one.

Yeah, one would think. I guess I missed where it said "Choose Goren and you get Norgu as a hero." Oh wait, it didn't.
Look, you're selecting who is going to protect some girl. However, that could easily mean that you will be tagging along, too, and the hero you choose to go protect the girl is the hero you will get by helping with the "quest". There is no quest, of course, but there's no way to know that unless you read the results on wiki.
Obviously, once you mess up the first time, you learn and it's no longer a problem. The point is, you're still likely to mess up. The choices should read:
"Goren's strength makes him the clear choice. Midauha can do the thinking for him. Norgu can stay with us."
"Norgu will be great entertainment for Midauha and has a knack for getting out of trouble. Goren, you're with us."

second choice.- Norgu will be great entertainment for Midauha and has a knack for getting out of trouble. This entire text is the exact reason why it was nasty. You'd think the next followup section will be going with whomever you choose together, fight hordes of enemies and "bond" with that person; and then get him as a hero in the end after the protecting task is done.
Without screwing it up once (or read the wiki) there's nothing hinting it will turn out the exact opposite way.

Winterclaw
I have absolutely zero desire to get the necro so I'd be fine if she was one we could choose not to get.
Tijger
Ofcourse, finishing NF will allow you to get any hero you missed earlier on.
Free Runner
Ogden, Vekk , Jora, Gwen and Pyre are all story heros so i would guess we get them all in one run of the game.
Kahmu and Xandria look to be optional. But i would guess these are the heros you win in the Norn fighting tournament.
Anton is with the Ebon Vanguard so he may also be a story hero. He is seen in a cutscene so its safe to assume he is.
Livia and Hayda however.....both are from the shining blade and both are probably working together. There may be a pick one or the other scenerio or they may join at seperate times in the game. There is always a possiblity that Hayda is one of the Norn fighting Tournament heros though.
Well thats just my theory.

Confused about what the game tells you directly? GuildWiki ftw.

Theres definitely going to be at least one choice between heroes in the game, but as always finish the game and get them all. I doubt its going to be "tricky" as even the one you mentioned simply took some thinking and you saw what the choices meant. The reason you saw it as tricky is because you assumed.
TGgold
I don't think anything about the wording was confusing as long as you understand what he's asking of you.
In a world where you're trying to continue on past where you are, why would your characters backtrack? It doesn't make sense.
I suppose a little "Are you sure you want to confirm *insert name here* as your hero?" Would be nice for those who think it really is "too" confusing...

I'll tell you my thought from cutscenes dialogues ripped from gw.dat. It's as Free Runner said, ogden, vekk are important in storyline, jora in norn part, pyro and gwen in rescuing vanguard from charr, but livia seems to be working with some asura sciencist. I didn't heard voices of other hero, but from one screenshot it seems we will free assasin with vanguard soldier. About dervish hero, i think we will unlock him from norn area, ritualist as ambasador will be near vanguard, and paragon hero as shinging blades maybe will be helping asura alongside livia.

I made an impulsive decision and got Goren, just so you know.
