Very simple solution to bots and gold sellers. at the gwstore sell gold in bundles like some other games out there do like 100k for /$4 the price is so low and undercuts botters to point it is profitless for them to do anything and they move on to new game. plain and simple.

money as you want it = dead economy. This a no fee game so why do I have to buy gold, Not to mention screw up the prices for everything else.

Obviously it would be optional

but please...seriously the only purpose for gold is to make yourself look pretty.

all your doing is changing the price and seller,

No.

Just because other games do it, doesn't mean you have to jump off the bridge too.

The best solution is not always the easiest. Anet are taking a stance by proactively enforcing bot bans and economy restraint (eg: the Armbrace Dupe) - it may not be the easiest way around, but it's certainly incredibly conscientious.

Moral High Ground. Not something usually found in games. Cherish it.

Selling gold would just make high end PvE even more dull then it is now. Bots and gold sites will always exist. Learn to live with it.

Can't add anything to that
Why stoop to there level?
Surely if everyone rose above them and didn't buy their gold thats even better, right?

how about the other way around?

I'd give 1mil for enough credit to get gw:en, or 200k for another char slot...

Sellesr would just sell the gold chapear than the store, and this would damage even more the game.

No. There is ONLY one way to kill bots and gold selling: Make bot farming not worthless, and human farming profitable. For eample, by limiting the amount of gold (invalue of drops) a character can get a day.

A human player can get more than 100k from a single drop. A bot can't they just sell to merchants.

Horrible idea as stated above in many posts. Those like me who would choose not to buy gold would be left behind because prices would inflate.

Amazingly insane.

If Arenanet starts selling gold, what will that mean? That gold is not needed and you can just grab a credit card and pay for all your vanity items with cash? In essence that is like saying 15k armor for 5 dollars...and I'm sure a lot of people would opt for it considering one hour of work at minimum wage will net you that.

The reasons why gold sellers exist is people are too lazy to actually get gold ingame by themselves or don't have time to. That means one of two things: they don't NEED vanity items (1.5k has the same stats, you know), or they are not the target audience for them (if you play 1 hour a week for 5 weeks you probably don't care about it). 15k armor is pretty accessible anyhow. It is not like you even have to farm for it. Playing normally in Hard mode will usually get you enough.

Besides, selling gold means there is an easily accessible unlimited source of ingame gold for everyone with however many dollars it costs. In turn, it means inflation due to increased gold supply. Gold sellers online are still limited to however much they can get by botting/farming/whatever they do. That in turn is still regulated by Arenanet mob spawns. If gold is just GENERATED (as if by buying it through the store), there is absolutely no balance.

Limiting amount per day will hurt real players that play alot

Just make human farming profitable enough to afford basics, cap sig's, lock picks ect

I have to farm a while per cap sig and it's annoying
I'd never buy gold but if i wasn't a broke student i'd likely be tempted

I am really really really broke and soon to be even more so. But at £2 a 100k I would buy £100s worth of gold. And that is saying something (from someone who spends everything they have on stupidly expensive clothes).

I would only buy legit gold as screw risking your 2 yr account and dozens of 1 off items for a few mil.

Selling gold would mean people like me (unlimited real world cash) would dominate the market with an ironfist. (not saying I'd buy gold BTW, just using myself as an example)

No, it won't. A bot farm 24/7, even the more hardcore player rarely goes over 9 hours a day.

You can get more than 3k for a rare material. Bots will get up to 100gold.
You can get more than 10k form a Elite tome. Bots will get nothing.
You can get around 500g from a normal tome. Bots will get nothing.
You can get more than 100k from a gold weapon. Bot will get less than 500g.
You can get 10g..5k from dyes, but will get 1g.
You can get 25g...3k from armors with runes, bots will get up to 500g.

Only lockpicks and keys would really increase the figures.
But they drop from less than 0.1% of the mobs.

They could start by making all drops have 0 value when not identified and making it so you can identify may times by holding shift instead of having to double click the kit everytime.
- Double click Kit.
- Shift-Click, the identify icon stays.
- Click, the identify icon banishes.

I don't like this idea either
I like to play and earn the gold as I go and THEN show off what I have accomplished
To just go buy gold from somewhere and get stuff it's just not the same feeling IMO

Supposing such gold could only be used on certain gold sinks, and not player-to-player trades?

Might as well just give everyone 15k armor as a present for hitting level 20 then.

Anet said that selling gold harms the economy, so they will never start to sell gold themselves. If they would, anyone who gets gold just by playing the game will no longer be able to obtain high-end items because of infaltion.

Actually, the only way to remove all gold sellers is to get rid of player trading entirely. There is no way to remove bots.

Y'know if Anet decide to sell the gold on their site, I'll buy it. what was it? £2 for 100k? For a tenner I can have half a mill, and tenner is nothing at all for me irl. It's a waste of time to farm these day imo. But only if ANet is the one who do the selling, which will never happen.
