Buying Un-identified Golds: Will I be Banned?
Mohnzh
Thanks for participating in this thread, Gaile!
To attempt to get further clarification, do you mean that you are fine with people trading things that they COULD legitimately earn in the game, or things that they DID legitimately earn in the game. It seems to me that the OP is concerned that what he is purchasing may have been obtained by the seller in an illegitimate fashion. Will he be faulted for that? It seems like 3-4k for 7 UNID is not unreasonable, may even be a good marketing ploy. That is probably what I would sell them for. But he is concerned with the "too good to be true" possibility. If these UNID golds were obtained by botting or duping, is he at risk not having know how the seller (with the unintelligible names) obtained them?

The first most obvious test was to equip it. If your health immediately jumped up, it was a fortitude mod. What level of fortitude could be figured out by how much health you gained. Tests like that. Next you take any white sword out and hit a monster with it and write down the number. Equip a weapon you know has a +15^50 mod and hit that same monster, take down the number. Now equip the unid gold and hit that same monster with it. If the damage is around the same as when you hit it with the 15^50 mod, then you know the mod on the unid gold is +15%. Now just to figure out if the condition is ^50, -5 energy, or whatever. So you gotta do all these tests and write down all the numbers and after a while, you'll have a nice compiled list that you can use to test unid golds and figure out what the mods are. Too much work to be really worth it these days.... rather just id the gold and up my title count

Wow...I can't believe that was even in question.....
Kinda sad we have to question trading things we have earned ourselves.

I can't believe this thread has made it past page one. There is absolutely nothing in the EULA that states it's a ban-able offense to make a trade for items from another character (bot or not) when you are trading in game currency for items at/above/below market value. Buying/selling unid golds is perfectly normal, and although we all know that most of the bulk sales, the 7 for 3.5K or 4K sellers are probably bot slaves, the fact is that you are making a legitimate trade at that moment between 2 accounts. The mass bans were for duped items, specifically armbraces and ectos, as A-Net has pointed out, it is unlikely that ppl were duping unid'd golds as they are not stackable, and besides that, we all know THE TRUTH about the duping deal.

Your opening comment is a bit harsh, you may not have noticed but there is not a lot to talk about right now other than GWEN, which has its own separate place on Guru. But yeah, you're right the discussion has run its course, especially now there is an official comment.

no people who sell unIDs with strange names aren't bots. type in some chinese and they'll start conversing coherently. this isn't a racist statement, it's an observation.

A bunch of gold unidentifieds could have been as easily duped as anything else, value wise it wouldn't be very profitable I wouldn't think since they don't stack and armbraces would have been much more lucrative. Still you can never just put it aside as it would never happen there's always someone to prove you wrong. It's just best not to buy anything from anyone anymore and then you are safe. Well I mean if it's that "too good to be true" type price tag.

Nothing wrong with buying un-identified Golds.
As pointed out your probable not going to get anything max as sellers know how to screen things to find out what the mods are.

*got bored and didn't read anything but the Gaile post on page three*
Um... bots farm up golds all the time. They don't ID them. The question still stands if it's right or not to buy unIDs from people who appear to be bots.
