My version of the Cripshot. Don't use this if you're new to the ranger class. The energy management here depends 70% on you and 30% on expertise. If you run out of energy, it's YOUR fault.

1. Crippling Shot [E]
2. Distracting Shot
3. Concussion Shot
4. Apply Poison
5. Screaming Shot
6. [Heal]*
7. Lightning Reflexes / Res
8. Natural Stride / Res

* Good variants I have found: Troll Ungent, Mending Touch, Generous was Tsungrai, Restful Breeze, Vital Boon, Healing Signet

Expertise: 11 +1 +2
Marksmanship: 10 + 2
Wilderness: 8 - 10 (varies depending on secondary)

- Health Armor (Survivor's and Vitae)
- Crippling Recurve Bow of Fortitude (Main)
- Zealous Shortbow of Fortitude (Lightning Reflexes)
- Poisonous Flatbow / Longbow of Fortitude (Range)

The build is a basic Cripshot with Concussion shot added in instead of Savage Shot. I don't know what this skill isn't used more. It rocks. Just a hint, don't miss(fire) with it :P

I don't think I really need to go over this build. If you don't know the aspects already, you're probably not prepared to play it yet. Practice a bit more and it will come naturally.

Enjoy.

I love the concussion shot. It's one of the most powerful dazing skills in the game...

In lower PvP (including any sub-300 GvG), playing concussion shot is pretty much purely based on your skill to predict and interrupt, so that's good for most people to practice on.

However one thing to note as you get up the ladder is that people start using 40/40 sets, canceling skills, etc. so it is much trickier and relies on a lot more mind games than simply being good at interrupts.

Agreed. I wouldn't ever suggest it for GvG without more energy management; especially with all the RC's running around. Unless you place it directly on them (the RC), it's not worth it.

The above build is one I usually run in all the other forms of pvp. It works wonders in alliance battles.

Concussion is very energy heavy, so savage rules the roost. The actual comparison should be;

[skill=big]Concussion Shot[/skill]

VS

[skill=big]Savage Shot[/skill]

The comparison loses when energy, and overall usefulness comes into play. Savage interupts anything, but excels against spells, while CS only interupts spells-to my knowledge.

CS is great against casters, and distracting is nice, but savage just does the job better than both for the basic/intermediate interupter. CS is for the advanced guys.

It's just nice to finally have something against all those eles and necros. Yea, it's expensive, but depending on the opponent, it's nice to snag 5 or 6 interupts back to back.

Unless you are fighting a monk you need to take down, don't try to tag 1 second skills with it. Even when I have to, I wait about 10 seconds to get thier pattern down.

I do miss savage occasionally. The 5 second recharge for an interupt-all is very appealing.

I prefer Hunter's Shot to Screaming Shot on a cripshot; you're often able to hit the slow moving crippled targets, it's cheap, long condition duration, faster recharge etc.

Concussion Shot can be good though.

I've always been a fan of Concussion Shot, and used to run it on my Crippling Shot ranger constantly. However, using Distracting Shot and Savage Shot alongside one another I've noticed I can often interrupt just as frequently on slow-casting Necromancers and Elementalists, simply because one interrupt or the other is usually up and ready when needed.

And yeah, Hunters Shot really beats out Screaming Shot in my opinion, especially in an already energy-intensive build.
