Make a sin or no?
Issac
I was thinking about making an assassin but wasn't to sure. I was wondering whats their overall view. Are they acceptable in most groups. I know their good in pvp, but I was wondering what about in pve, will I be accepted into groups in pve?
Sawamura
I'd say 'Yes, make that sin'. But realise that there's more to it then shadow stepping in, tanking 5+ crits and coming out alive. It requires some skill & intellect. If you get the hang of it and have a decent setup you'll find that groups that take will be very satisfied with you.
People do like to pick other classes above the sins tho. But Hero/Hench is a perfect solution for that !

Thanks, I do know theirs more to a profession then meets the eye lol. Thats how I set up my warrior and he does great. Im not no wammo lol. I was thinking of some other builds I could make with a sin so it will be kind of versatile.

well, assassin is probably the hardest character to play. Not because he is weak,as they say,it have few awesome builds:Its because everybody hate assassins,as they think that they die too often. So,rarely they will invite you into some good group, cause people thinks that every playedr who play assassin s*xs.
In my opinion, play it if u think that u r mature player who will know how to play assassin, not to rush into mob, assassins r not that type of character, warriors are.
I play assassin, and it is most interesting character for me(and monk)
But,the truth is,it will not be so easy.

The average pug still doesn't really enjoy having an assassin.
That doesn't mean anything though. They provide the highest armor-ignoring damage out of all melee classes. Death Blossom + Moebius + Crit Agility has made assassins one of the best melee classes in pve. That might be the highest DPS in the game.
Obviously to play each class to it's fullest potential, you need to have all 3 chapters. Crit Agility was a massive buff to pve sins. Besides being the only ias for sins, it can give upto 25+al. Combined with Nightstalker's you can get 110al, which beats a warrior's ele resistance. Only downside are disenchantments.
So yes, they're very great in pve. But, the average pve'er still doesn't know that so don't expect pugs to be looking for sins. People still seem to prefer having a warrior on the team, even if the person playing it happens to suck badly.

Even I bumped into some total retards in Gate of Pain.
Them: "glf 5/8 self invite"
*invites myself*
Them: "haha u suck" " u play assassin"
*they fill their spots with a whammo and 2 hero monks.
Then I just grabbed some henchies and heroes and did the mission myself.

Yeah, sure, make an assassin ^_^
Finding PuGs can be a bitch, but it's no biggie - most PuGs are complete retards anyway
they work well enough in PvE, stuff like Death blossom is really strong, especially vs. high-armour mobs - most of a 'sins damage ignores armour.
Besides... you can always delete if you don't like it.
Oh, and for end-game stuff - I'm not sure.
But, my Alliance is organizing a trip to DoA (finally!) sometime soon, we're gonna try out all kinds of stuff, including a Shadow Form tank.

Ask yourself, though. Did you really want to play with the power attack/healing breeze team?
jesh
I like to run through the miasma and spread it to everyone. It's funny when the monk complains he can't healing breeze everyone.
.. I mean.
I don't enjoy other people's suffering!
P.S.: You can't poke too much fun at power attack anymore.. it's actually decent on an otherwise all adrenaline warrior.

Chamber Asgardian
Here's a great PvE build for all the chapters, however you'll need all three Campaigns. I've managed to beat the campaigns easily with this build. This can be used at end game too and does really well in the Ring of Fire, end game Cantha and Elona when you reach the Gate of Madness
1)Golden Phoenix Strike
2)Critical Strike
3)Moebius Strike
4)Death Blossom
5)Critical Agility
6)Vital Boon
7)Mystic Regeration
8)Dash/Res Signet
Just keep up the enchantments during the battle and do the chain. And whenever you feel your taking to much damage just move away from the battle and go back for a quick heal from the monks. I highly doubt you'll have trouble healing though with Mystic Regeneration giving you 9 pips of regeration.

Too bad the Assassin is still the least wanted profession, and I'm afraid it'll keep being like this, unless GW:EN causes sins to be the most wanted type all of a sudden

if any sins want to group up in doa i think that would be fun. i don't have much experience at all in doa because no one would ever let me group with them and my sin is my main pve char.

Thx for all the replies, I think I am going to make a sin, I just need o get the name that I want lol.

Try to find a PuG with a Mesmer... During my whole Mesmer playtime I found only one (!!!) person that wanted to do a mission with me... But using D/A with Shadow Prison in PvE isn't ftw. So I did the mission myself, Masters. It was Nundu Bay.
Strange, eh? I do Master's Rewards' even easier than at monk or ranger. I guess that you should make Assassin - I bet it'll be just with me, maybe you will meet a retarded PuGs (I mean - I never found a normal PuG, except for DoA teams, but if someone can get there, he isn't a noob), but you will do missions extra-fast and easier than with other characters. Plus, you can use the safest Tombs/FoW/anything farmer in the whole Guild Wars.

theres a reason people dont want mesmers in their group. most people realized it a long time ago.
classes with a primary attribute > classes without a primary attribute
classes with a primary attribute > classes without a primary attribute

In Normal mode, the exception of maybe one or two missions per campaign, players are usually not stretched to their limits, it doesn't really matter which damage causing professions you are.
For Elite missions and Hard mode, competent and experienced players are more valuable than inexperienced people playing the right build.
Too bad PuGs don't feel that way. So packing your own Heroes helps. They can be as good as or better than your average PuGs at what they do.

Make an Assassin if you want things a bit more complicated and are ok with it.
As for finding a party.... odd as it may sound, having a nice title and a set of 15k armour helps. And make sure you can demonstrate on a whim that you know what you're talking about with an air of authority. I haven't really had any trouble getting groups when I try.... The 15k Kurzick armour and KoaBD title help, but ultimately it falls down to attitude.
I got my team for Gate of Madness by explaining to them that I had a build primed for taking down Shiro... and gave a little explanation of how.
It does help if you don't try to team up with complete idiots though.

Where do sins stand in being the most played profession?
Coloneh
above monks, mesmers, dervishes, paragons, and ritualists?

Dumb question... Isn't slipping in, unleashing harsh damage with a well planned combo or two, and GTFO fast the whole point?
I'm not trying to bust chops, honest. Just want to know what I need to know to play my Sin better.

I never have a problem with taking assassins in my groups.
Two reasons:
One, I play a Ritualist, and people think that Ritualists are second-rate to other classes (but they jump for us pretty fast when it comes to Sunjiang District or Finding a Purpose) so I know what it feels like to be one of the less-welcomed classes.
Two, I've witnessed an Assassin in the Gate of Pain. It was amazing how fast those Torturewebs and Emissaries of Dhuum went down. And I know that it's great to have that party member who can step in, quickly kill the enemy healers/nukers, and step out.
Yes, it is hard to get a group sometimes... but I have found that despite this, it's still worth it playing as one of the less-liked PvE classes... for one thing, we get armour that looks much more awesome (in my humble opinion, at least - I realize this is a matter of personal preference) than the other classes.
For another thing, it's great to be a minority class. Makes me feel more unique and less generic (rather than, say, a warrior, of which many can be found all over the place). Despite the lower amount of faces on Rits and Assassins, we run into clones MUCH less often.

I agree, i was kicked to, because i was a SIN, and they suck...
Then i explained how to kill the great destroyer with my SIN build and Team build, so they tried it with me.. and we killed that boss in 1 minute, and now they like my sin :3

When you get more time under your belt with a sin, you can try a tanking build. Learn the right way to play a sin, first. Which is what you said: get in, quick kill, get out, then go to next target. Too many sins will go all Leroy Jenkins and take on the aggro like a tank, then wonder why they went pop. This style of 12 year old Naruto wannabe play is why sins have such a hard time getting in groups.
You're a sin. You can't carry 126+ of armor like a warrior. Your job is to take out the soft targets. It's what real assassins have done. They don't stand on the frontlines of combat. They go behind enemy lines, kill the target and get out of Dodge.
After you get some good elites(Moebius Strike), you can spend more time in the combat zone, start using things like the Mystic Regen build above to hang in there and decimate the back line. Learn the strategy first, though.
I love my sin. I recently deleted all my characters. the only two I kept were the Ranger and the Sin, because I still have fun playing them.
And yeah, check out the thread on class popularity. It could be worse, class-wise. You could always be a mesmer.

Then I just grabbed some henchies and heroes and did the mission myself. I've had that similar although my biggest annoyance was summed up in a message to my alliance:
Getting constant blame and wisp abuse for a team wipe because your a sin, it must be your fault....free.
Doing the same mission straight through with only 3 heroes and no deaths...priceless.
I say roll a Sin but be aware they are, in my experience, the biggest scapegoat in GW.It's the mechanics of the profession,no thanks to a bad introduction in early Factions days, which has now become a popular bad habit of ignorant players.
We wiped with a Sin in the team.
"gg noob sin"
Nobody likes a wipe and ragging on the Sin is now a trend in GW.People don't even stop and analyse that it's a TEAM game hence blaming one player is a tad illogical, excluding the obvious exceptions (Leeeeerrroooooyyyy Jennnkinnnsss!!11!!).
I also notice it has less to do with Sins and more and more to do with people not knowing how to play with them on a team. The amount of times I've had teams, with Warriors no less, standing around waiting for me to lead and take alpha strikes is becoming a joke.
Anyway man your using forums like this to read up and ask questions.Awesome first step and good luck.Imo it's the most rewarding and enjoyable class in the game.
