Ooze Movement Animation :(
Prowlinger
Ok I am getting GWEN... I have all the prior GW...
The animation for the new OOZES look really odd...
The flipping gymnastics acrobat oozes looks so wrong... Oozes should
creep and jiggle... not flip and wiggle...
Am I the only one who thinks the oozes look really out of place and wrong
when they move around flipping like acrobats?!?

I agree to Prowlinger.
We will be able to see tomorrow. Maybe this Ooze splits in multiple tiny Oozes when you kill it. Except you shock frost and then put it into a microwave!

Last time I saw magical oozes moving around in real life they looked and moved roughly the same as they do in GW:EN...
Malice Black
I couldn't care less. It could jump up and scream "Goooo Anet!!!" for all I care.
Prowlinger
I just think jellies and oozes should not flip end over end to move... just looks wrong...
Like saying a snake hops everywhere instead of slithers...
Same effect... Looks silly.

They are kinda silly looking... but in a fun way. Made me smile when I saw them.
Reminds me of... nm, this isn't an adult site.

The people will find /anything/ to complain/point out in some way.
No one cares.. really.

i care, and yes i agree Bouncing Ooze looks dumb. Ooze shoould OOZE not go "Boing boing"

Actually, GW:EN is a level 20 expansion.
Creatures thee should be evoled.
Oozes are not like the old RPG slimes. They are more like jellyfish.
That way is better to move, so they evolved that way.

Seriously, who wants oozes that creep around slowly? It'd just be a huge nuking target.

Why should oozes have to move in the slowest way possible just because they're slimy and gooey? Flipping like they is much faster, and besides, I like the way it looks.
MrFuzzles
ha. They do a simple novel thing where they have 2 bloody mobs in town and the first thing that comes to some people's mind is to find something to complain about.
Seriously, if I were a developer at anet, I wouldn't have been able to read these forums without knocking myself unconscious by banging my head against the keyboard.

...sidewinders dont HOP, they go sideways granted and no i dont think that looks stupid.
whats wrong with saying that ooze should ooze? you would all be whining if chars "glided" instead of walked/ran i mean why bother with animating anything correctly at all following that logic.

Exhibit A
This is completely different from having the Charr 'glide'. The Charr are bipedal creatures, and the only logical way they would move is by walking. The oozes, on the other hand, are completely unlike anything real. There's nothing about their appearance that would show how they moved. Having them bounce makes as much logical sense as anything else.

well since we're debating this whole thing about an in-game novelty.....
you'd firstly need to konw
-the habits of the creature,
-What it lived on? -insects,blants a form of placton that live in the gw air
-conditions it lived in, safe to assume it lived underground more or less, damp conditions, maybe damp or warm
-how it hunted, maybe underground in the dark it iluminates drawing the attention of the insect life, when they land on itit simply absorbs them.
-how it processed energy, a stomach system or so much
-if it is areally all ooze or is there a light skin on it.
if it was made to be luminous and absord then i'd say its aslow mover, however if it hunted then it should move around....

That's basically what I meant. There's no reason to believe that it would move any particular way based on what we know of the creature.

I can see where some people are coming from, though. I understand why you might want to see an ooze move by oozing. But that's just a name, it doesn't necessarily mean a whole lot. Personally, I like the name the species was given in the manual: jellies. It gives a better feel of what they are like.
street peddler
why would someone care about this.

In before tentacle rape jokes.
Eldin
As awesomely trippy as it is, it is somewhat distracting (plus it doesn't transition well with some of its idle animations).
They never looked like slimy things that should ooze and squirm around anyway - they look like giant horned watermelons.

Well, I have been fighting Oozes for years: Betrayal at Krondor, Might & Magic Series, Wizardry 8, Baldur's Gate, and yes, even WoW.
These Oozes found in the major cities of Elona, Tyria and Cantha are highly unorthodox!

The Ooze is clearly mimetic poly-alloy.
And last I checked, the T-1000 could do more than just "ooze" around.
Or you could say that a.net has chosen to make their glob of stuff be more animated than a lump of jello and be done with it.

Metal Herc
They really remind me of the Slimes from Dragon Quest. Bouncing around like crazy
sagilltwins
its just an ooze calm down ><
genofreek
I dunno, these guys are fun to chase around the square. They're way more eye-catching and interesting than the standard globs of Jell-O you see bouncing pathetically through other RPGs. I'm looking forward to meeting them in battle if they're actually enemies. Wouldn't they look great with a boss sheen?
A welcome departure from ooze that just... oozes.

ok lets end this, the oozes you saw in LA ect are aggressive oozes *i know i encountered them in a dungeon and killed them* they charge at you aggressively hence the movement type not the earthen oozes, and ominous oozes both are less aggressive and both ooze in the fashion you speak of soooooooo yea there done
