I just recently got this on my new pc i just bought...
Can this card run well for Guild Wars?It is only about 100-150 dollar card depending where you look...and can it run well for other games?I'm looking at some of the games I play. This card has all the minimum. But minimum can be crappy as we all know.It cuts the recommended for some awesome games, like F.E.A.R., Battlefield 2142, Condemned: criminal origins, etc etc. But for bioshock...im a lil concerned..i really want to play that game
ex:bioshock, recommended 7900gt or dx10 series-8600
Geforce 8500gt?

It will be fine for GW. GW will run on integrated cards..
I doubt that card will cope with Bioshock.

Bioshock will eat your 8500 and spit it out. Who plays FPS games at minimum req anyway?
For $139 you can get a BFG 7950 GT 256MB OC (already overclocked) over at mwave.com ($179 - $40 MIR). They are out of stock now but will get another shipment soon. It will run BioShock just fine and it even runs better than the 8600 GTS.
It's not a good time to get DX10 cards right now since there's hardly any DX10 games out atm anyway. Plus we're talking about the first generation of DX10 cards, I heard the next lineup will be loads faster and more powerful at about the same price of the ones out now. That's what I'm waiting for, but for now the 7950 GT should hold you over.

Min spec = fail
You should be well over the recommended to get any decent performance out of the game.
GW was designed to play on just about anything, Bioshock wasn't. I've played the demo on my brothers 8800gts rig (not the best card, but it's ok) and he got 60fps max, around 30-40 in open game play (which is acceptable I guess).
That 8500 prob get 10-20fps in open game play.
The graphics in Bioshock are quite amazing tbh, most standard computers won't cope on anything above low-med graphics.

I run a 8500 GT and it has trouble running oblivion, you have no chance at running bioshock.
holyjew888
which model 8800 gts`s (640 or 320) that makes a huge diff
also when comparing cards look at what they do on both high and low res
