Well....as I watch diamonds have just gone up to 8000 each. I think we are going to either have a huge crash or a huge boom on diamonds, and I think the next few hours may be interesting, but when GWEN is opened we are either going to see them fall back to 2kish or go through the roof to xxk each....either way....I think it is going to be amusing!
What price do you reckon diamonds will be at one minute before midnight?

Well... I really don't think in the preview event we're gonna be able to buy armor.... so diamonds will rise, but nothing like a huge spike in price.

Yes. Most likely, I guess. Just like in the Factions Preview everyone was excited over the new 15k luxon/kurzick armor. If they do, expect diamonds around 8k for the next couple of months...

From what they've said before, they want to use all the forgotten materials that were never given a use (ex. clay brick). I'm pretty sure they'll use all those materials for armors in gwen

It depends on what will require diamonds, we don't know for sure if it's armor, it could be anything like special weapons or hey- maybe those monuments require them when you want to 'build' one.
Then even if it is armor, how many would be needed is the next thing to ask, it could be a re-run of the rubies and sapphires in Vabbian armor, only requiring a few (14-16) instead of the hundreds I'm sure people (who want to spend this much money) are buying.
If armor can't be bought during the event, the price will certainly go back down, maybe even lower than the 5.5k we've been seeing lately. But uh, that may not last very long...

What would truly piss me off is if people who don't plan on buying GW:EN buy Diamonds in bulk to raise the price, then sell them for stupid amounts to other players who want new weapons and armour. That would be very unfair in my opinion.

All I see is the price rising and if we do in fact need diamonds for armor.. well then only the truly rich or the ebay gold buyers will have access to that armor and player like me who don't want to farm will not have access to it.. same situation as obsidian armor. I say all this but I don't really care because from what I have seen so far all the GW:EN armor I have seen for ele's is reskinned armors that don't look as good as what I have now.

Diamonds are going down because people are doing the 5-level wurm dungeon at the far north end of the preview event map. At the end, you're rewarded with a diamond and a nice weapon/item. And this quest is repeatable. Now we just need to find out where the onyx dungeon is.

You can get Onyx from the wurm dungeon, instead of a diamond.

Diamond 1st quest, Onyx 2nd quest. (Fend off A LOT of stone summit, bring a lot of offense -- MM included of course)
My 2nd Onyx gemstone I got finishing some Norn's mission of beating one of those giant bosses, Jotuni(?)
But this guy was crazy big, like another 3/4 added to the already giant Jotuni height .. Level 29, easy easy easy.
What happens when I open the Jotuni chest, a 3 level dungeon ... ONE STINKIN onyx gemstone.

The only reason to farm for equipment in GWs is VANITY. Showing off in online gaming is part of the fun for me: I find it a shallow yet enjoyable downtime to the hours of brain power spent thinking about the game proper.
Bottom line is: If you want shiny loot/armor, why should you be entitled to it without the effort?
If your answer is close to: Because that's just unfair/I don't have as much time to play as others/Everyone should be equal!, well that's just not how these things work.
Effort = Reward. A lot of you would be better off spending time getting familiar with this concept.

Aye.. diamonds can be obtained it seems fairly easily (and in a fun dungeon no less.) So I see the prices dropping slightly before stabalizing.
