Bambi and Teh Haxor

Hello there people
Just thought I'ld make a confession. My name is Miranda....and I'm a noob.
Yes indeed, only been playing GW for a few months now. Bought all three campaigns and pre-ordered EoTN. Kinda close to finishing Prof. and Fact. Just bought my first set of 15K Kurzick (..it's soooo cool! makes my Mes look like a tavern wench. ). Have to say, I really like this game. But it's really not my life, and as much as I wish I could do more, I can only put about fifteen hours max into the game per week. I probably spend more time surfing the forum, but that's because I'm a receptionist by trade and have a lot of free time. (I can surf the net, just not use it to play games...).
I guess you could say I'm a casual player, but hey, I'm still a player. My point is this. After spending money on this game, why should my accomplishments be any less than another player with more time on their hands? I'm talkin "Titles" here people, and the propensity of some to look down on lower grade titles. As it would seem that with the new HoM, ANet is doing.
Just got my Canthan Explorer and Sunspear General Titles, and hey, I think they're cool. I know they are'nt anything exceptional, but well...I earned them. As you do with ANY title. No matter how small. You have to start somewhere, and if you're going to have a title track it goes without saying that you're going to have the lowest title rank at some point. Should this title be belittled just because it's the lowest one? If it's such a crap title...why have it at all? Remove it from the game and have the next title be the first one. Oh...but wait then THAT title becomes the Bambi title. Oh NOES!! Can't have the Bambie title!! We hatez the Bambie titlez!
In the discussions about what HoM should and should'nt be, I've heard quite a few people say that they don't want to see a bunch of "Bambie" titles all over the place. Uhm, why not? Does it cheapen your "uber-leet" title? Would the "non-leetness" of other players offend you. Would the very stench of Bambie titles be a horrendous blight upon the pristine land, blessed by your presence? Come on. Again, everybody has to start someplace. Is it right and proper to address a child with a gold star and say "Wow you're stupid. I've got..like ten of those. Why do you even bother showing it.."? (foolish question, I'm sure that some on this board would feel it is).
ANet, I ask you. If you're going to give players the ability to display an accomplishment, let them display it in the Hall of Monuments as they would in the game. To do otherwise would, I believe, invite an elitist and pompous attitude to the game. (not like there is'nt enough all ready..)

"Bambie title" is a term used for entry rank or easy to get titles. (example-Sunspear Commander is a required title in Nightfall, so some would call it a Bambie title..)

Why can't we have all titles as monuments. little trophies that dont upset anyone

Sounds as if the HoM only lets you display certain titles or "accomplishments," at least for the sneak peek. I don't know how many titles there are nor do I care but it should be expected that not everything would have a monument/trophy built for it. If Anet chose to add only a sample then I would expect to see a wide spread or only those that could distinguish the hardcore mindless grinders from the casual mindless grinders.

In any case, it may be better to withold judgement until the full release. I do agree that casual players should have something in there though - a lil something for everyone.

Regretably, Miranda, just as in real life (it does exist, i promise) you have elitist's. The same guy who looks down for you for driving a Toyota instead of a Lexus like him is the guy that's looking down on you for your explorer title when he has in Grand Master Cartogropher title up. Brush your shoulders off and you'll be a KoBD before you know it girl.

I wouldnt worry about it, people who call it a 'bambi title' probably have "I'm a jackass" as their title.

lol! Awesome sauce. Yes. Yes. Destroy all Bambie titles so only leets remain! Then destroy the leets who are now Bambies 'cause they're not leet, leets. Then have a super ninja cage match to the death eliminating all who are not super, leet, leet. Then hang out in a greasy bar, smelling of booze and testosterone, doing stuntman shots and eating whole, raw cows. That'll learn those non-leets!!

The bambi is the Emote for Rank 3-6, often assocaited with noobs who want to HA but cant win enough. That is not my view, and I would not give up my bambi for a wolf or tiger (i would for a phoenix<_<).

I agree with the op here. In fact i have two Bambi titles that I will never level up.(unless I get really lucky/unlucky with lockpicks) that is Charmed and Hapless. I just love those titles. The more advances ranks just dont do it for me.

Anyways, dont play this game to impress everyone, its impossible. Join a good guild, make friends and display your accomplishments with pride. And ignor all the naysayers and whatnot for what they are, bitter people with little or no self worth so they have to drag everyone down to make themselves feel better. Pride in your accomplishments, no matter how "small" is healthy.

Oooo! You've got the "Hapless" title. I so want to get that one! (really want to get "Tragic", but I just don't see it happening any time this century).
Yeah, I hear ya. I could'nt care less about impressing people. I just want a neato title to display. Could be "Dreaded Cockroach Smoosher" for all I care, but I most definitely want to be able to display it....is'nt that what they're for anyway?

But you cant just be given a title because your a casual gamer. Titles must be earnt so they mean something, and to earn them takes time. The more time it takes the "harder" it is to achieve, and there more they are worth.

yeah I love the Hapless title for my emo Necro, Alyssia, and the charmed title for my pretty pink Ranger, Arwen. It just seems to fit. Hope I never gain rank in them

yea, i agree, untill I started spending about 10 hours a day on the game (Summer Holidays) I was quite envious of people with the higher titles, i only have rank 2 of the Lightbringer and rank 7 (might be 8) of the Sunspear. I now think that its just a case of time, you cant rush things just keep at it and you will get it. Im like 1/4 of the way towards the title for identifying rare items and im enjoying it as its a lil bit of a thril when im about to identfy, will it be a perfect 15^50 inscription? will it be merchent fodder? Its about having fun, relax and enjoy
