Undead, slash and fire

I am a War/mo and I am having some trouble with the mission that gets me to Lions Arch. I am sure this is common knowlege for many of you, do the undead have a resistance on slash based weapons? Would a fire damage sword do normal damage on the undead?

I looked all over the forums, no info. Asked people in game, no clue or no answer.

Not sure about the slashing resistance or the fire damage, however I have noticed that my Penetrating Shot (which ignores 20% armor IIRC) does a LOT more damage to those Skeleton Rangers than anything else I have.

Also, I believe monks have a spell that will make another person in the party deal Holy damage instead of whatever type they normally do, and Undead really really do not like Holy damage. So grab a player monk and make sure he takes that skill (if it's available, having never played a monk I am not sure).

Yep, great spell . It's called Judge's Insight (smiting tree) and really, REALLY helps against undead, as it not only converts attacks to holy (which do major damage) but ALSO gives +20% armor penetration on every attack.

Can you say, "undead ownage"?

try Explorers' League for specific help on the Gates of Kryta mission. as for inherent weaknesses, undead take double damage from holy sources. the only holy dmg weapons i know of are wands and staves. you can use Judge's Insight to make your weapon do holy damage. undead are unaffected by poison and skeletons are unaffected by bleeding. armor penetration works best on armored enemies such as warriors or possibly rangers.

I've noticed that certain attacks do more dmg on certain mobs as well. Obviously fire spells destroy the ice elementals as well as holy dmg vs undead but I've notice other more subtle differences as well.... eg. with my ranger my bow is alot more effective (higher dmg) vs stone elementals than bears, little things like this I have noticed.

Makes me wonder if the damage system is similar to that of DAoC where certain mob types were weak to certain dmg types... eg. undead weak to cold & spirit damage.

Im pretty new to this game so there is a good possibility that I dont know what I'm talking about

Actually, I have found quite a few undead that poison works on. The Skeleton ones it does not, but for instance there are quite a few Undead bosses... well they look undead anyway. Hmm I will go re-verify this, but I recall poison working on some and not others. Might be it doesn't work on Skeleton types.

I have received the message "target does not have flesh" in to an attempt to use a particular skill, so I imagine this is the basis for effectiveness of poison and bleeding attacks. (e.g. A stone golem or skeleton has no blood, so nothing to bleed or poison.)

Thanks everybody. I was aware what Holy damage could do, but didn't know about Judge's Insight. I might get that with my War having Monk as his second job.

Also, I think your right on some undead can be poisoned. I was out hunting lvl 18 Scales for exp. outside Kryta when three executioners and some lvl 20something Boss named Lord Somethingorother marched out of the swamp. By some grace of God, we killed the sucked and at some point the Boss did get poisioned.
