Do not buy EOTN at gamespot.com if you're in a rush for weekend key :S

Got this from them after asking "'Dude, where's my bonus key?"

Yep, I went to Gamestop stores several times during July and August to pre-order GW:EN. Each time the clerks were happy enough to take my order, but they said they had no keycodes in the store and I'd get a code when they came in. I said "No thank you" and left.
After about the 5th time checking I gave up. I went to Best Buy and they had the pre-order boxes on the shelf. I bought one there and came home with the keycode.

Woops. Can't correct the title unfortunately.

Gamestop/eb games in my opinion is a waste of time now. They are just glorified video game pawn shops now and they don't get my business at all anymore.

I pre-ordered GWEN at Gamestop.com . Was e-mailed the Preview Event key immediately after paying. Granted I might have paid on Wednesday and received the key on Thursday, but it was pretty much immediate.
I would suggest that if you intend on pre-ordering games in the future, you do so at least a month ahead of time. Pre-ordering games the week of the event and expecting to get the bonus keys the same day the event starts is bad planning on your part. I learned this the hard way myself a few years ago. Many game suppliers either don't get in as many titles they thought they would, or there are some shipping problems that delay when you get the game (and thus, the code).
To those in the same boat as the OP: Try CALLING Gamestop/EBGames support. (Don't send a moronic e-mail titled "Dude where's my key?". I called Support when the Factions preview event started (I didn't receive my key via e-mail), and the girl voluntarily opened up 2 Factions boxes and gave me the preview keys over the phone. (She then shipped those boxes to me when the game shipped). She was extremely helpful and I was surprised she offered to get me the key (I didn't even have to ask her).
Try exhausting all possible outlets of support before making a thread to condemn a company.
I will definitely be sticking with GameStop/ebGames. You just have to remember that huge MMO releases get a lot of pre-orders. Just like any event you want tickets to, it's best to get them early. Showing up at the box office for Tool at Madison Square Garden expecting to get 2 premium tickets is foolish. Plan ahead and avoid the frustration of having to wait while others play.
(Reason I pre-ordered WAR already)

Monday - Friday 8:00 a.m. to 9:00 p.m. (CST); Saturday - Sunday 8:00 a.m. to 8:00 p.m. (CST) You seriously think "Dude where's my key?" was the title of the email or what was in it? You got to be kidding. I did try calling them but they told me same they had told me before. That they would send the next batch of keys next thursday.
How can anyone know ahead of time that gamestop.com won't send you you a preorder key on time when the product description had the bonus explicitely stated and that online customers would get the instructions by email? Buy on friday, get the key next thursday. I ended my call suggesting that they should post that information (keys sent only on thursdays after the purchase is confirmed) somewhere on their FAQ and/or in the products that include bonus keys sent by email. Simple.
I hope someone didn't make the same mistake that I made thanks to this post, and that's why I made this post. I didn't condemn gamestop.com, I just posted that you would not get a key on time. Please learn to read.

I preordered in person at a local ebgames, so it went smoothly. Never rely on the speediness of the internet.

Why buying from shops when u have an Online in game shop that automatically adds the key to ur account? I don't understand it. yea the box is nice but....not rly worth it.

Simple. Because the ingame store doesn't allow some transactions. The ingame store will not allow you to use a credit card if the transaction is originating from a foreign country. If you are in a foreign country, and thus connecting from a foreign IP address, you can't use your credit card with the ingame store. That's my case and it's pretty bad for anyone that travels often or that is living abroad.
Edit, this is what I got in a reply to my support ticket:
==
Unfortunately, our billing system will no longer accept credit card transactions using a credit card that is foreign to the country in which you are currently located. This security feature is not something we can override and we do not have the ability to manually process a transaction. We aplogize for any inconvenience this may cause.

I don't like Gamestop either. Stopped going to them 2 years running now. Bestbuy had the pre-order though .

I ordered though EB Games myself, and my experience with them was awesome(as usual)
When the preorders came in, the guy called me to tell me it was there for me whenever I wanted to pick it up. I drove over and he had it ready for me displayed on the front shelf with my receipt attached to it, 30 seconds in and out. I was there for the full 3 days of the weekend and I had over a month to use my little preorder weapons.

I use gamestop for 1 reason. Its local. I prefer the "in store" concept of real people over and electronic transaction any day. Also, unless I want to drive 100 miles one way to the closest bestbuy or other game store, its the easiest way for me to shop. Plus I have "Never" had any problems with gamestop/ebgames that the employees were not able to fix. When shopping in store: want a preview pack:ask to talk with the store manager. He will make sure you get it. Its as simple as that.

It seems most people have to learn to read.
The purpose of this post was to prevent people from buying ONLINE at gamestop.com after thursday because you would not get a preorder key on time. Preview weekend is over, so it doesn't matter where you buy your EOTN as long as you get your preorder key (for the weapons) if you paid for it.
Only thing that matters is that if you are outside of the country where your account was created, you won't be able to use your credit card to buy the complete EOTN from the ingame store. For the online store to work the country of your IP address (yes, there are many ways to tell where you are connecting from), your credit card billing address, and your account address all have to match or the transaction will be denied.
