I'm trying to beat him on my ranger. no luck so far... any suggestions for usefully ranger skills on him?
Sasuke The Betrayer
Yea... use burning arrow + apply poison and hit him once in a while. And then just run around... using running skills if you have to.
ValaOfTheFens
I made some headway with Grenth's Balance + Arcane Echo. I got him to 1/4 health but I got cornered and owned. Plus I ran out of energy. I'm gonna try a Curse/Inspriration build tomorrow. I can use Mantra of Resolve so Dissonance won't interrupt me and then whatever skill gives me the most energy for the least. Normal degen does jack against the griffon.

I haven't actually battled him but I hear many beat him merely by degen + kiting. With a necro, just use life transfer and life siphon or something and walk around and he'll die.
VitisVinifera
definitely the hit & run technique applying degen is what works
in my case I was blood degen necro, took a few tries (mainly you need him to set his spirits in one corner so you have room to work)

The way I did it was by trapping him in a corner and e-denying him using the Steady Stance build

I'm a warrior and I just used a couple of bleeding skills and Grenth's Balance...easy kill!
Timexy
I've beaten it using Conjure Nightmare, Conjure Phantasm, Imagined Burden and Storm Djinn's Haste as an E/Me
BuddhaSpirit
Spam Grenth's Balance, while bringing some damage / interupt skills.

Ok...my turn to contribute
This is the easiest way to beat him without breaking a sweat and made for any class.
1) bring any degen skill. I use only conjure Phantasm, but the more the better.
2) *some one teach me how to put pics in a post, but for now, look a picture number 1*
This is the hard part.
What you have to do is get the Griffon up on the hill and you behind...it require carefull pulling. But once down, its a piece of cake. Just cast what ever degen spell you have....and Voila! *see pic 2* you beat him.
Hope this helps
P.S: Ignore the horrible skill bar, I was messing around when I discovered this

i too, took advantage of the terrain, in running around the hils and whatnot it just gets " stuck" casts 1 and doesnt move, and hill was in line of site for the sprits, so they didnt fire at me.
took like 10 minutes solid of -5 degen , was boring , i dunno how someone can beat it swinging style, i tried most of my builds, and even some b day cupcakes and golden eggs.

Buster
Beat it with my Dervish. I used ebon dust and banishing strike.

he likes to get stuck on the top of the hill, if you pull him up there he becomes easy picking for degen, I was a necro and brought life transer, syphon, conjur phantasm, phantom pain, blood renewal (came in handy actually), necrosis, vamp gaze and awaken the blood.
16 blood
12 illusion
make sure he gets stuck on the top of the hill!

CyberNigma
I did it with a warrior/necro
swinging, bleeding, life sucking, and grenth'ed him to death
Sever Artery, Gash (bleeding)
Frenzy (fast swinging)
Grenth's Balance (get ur health back up and his down)
Life Siphon (health regen and health degen on him)
Healing Signet
Basically get him to throw out his ghosts, pull him away and start hitting him. When we puts them down again. He should move around before he heals up, or you can hit him with a longbow to pull him. As long as he doesn't throw up Shadowsong when you're hitting him you will probably survive. Dissonance may screw you though if he drops it. Depending on your health and grenth's/life siphon you may survive for a bit of time with a bloodsong and pain down.
On mine, the life bar is off. So even though it looks like 0 on a mob there is still a bit to go. One way to get the finishing touch is to wait till ur health is really low when you can't see his health then use Grenth's and it'll kill him. I also noticed I couldn't go below 1 once the mission completed so no worries...

2. Distracting Shot
3. "I am the strongest!" [Norn]
4. Troll Ungent
5. Screaming Shot
6. Called Shot
7. Conjure Flame
8. Poison Tip Signet
I didn't use skills 2 or 6 at all.

I was able to beat him with only Sloth Hunters Shot + Apply Poison. Let him cast his spirits, then pull him away. Use sloth+apply and then break aggro. He will run back to the spirits. Pull him again sloth+apply-break. Keep doing that and he should be dead in a few minutes.
Hunters shot might be useful also, but I didn't use it.
