Preventing RA running?
neonleonb
Last night, I was playing Random Arenas, and when the other team was down to 1 person, he spent the next 20 minutes running away. He didn't try to fight, only flee. And it wasn't as though he was trying to win--he admitted that he was bored and wasting our time was fun.
Now, I suppose that, in theory, one of us could bring a cripple or knockdown. But as a monk, I can't afford to bring it, and certainly it seems a waste for everyone to bring a cripple that's ordinarily useless just to prevent runners. (And if not everyone brings it, sooner or later in RA you'll have a team without such a skill.)
I think PlayNC really needs to fix this, because having some loser waste your time just for the sake of wasting your time is incredibly frustrating, and makes the game a lot less fun. They could fix it as easily as putting a timer on those games, and increasing damage after the time runs out (like they do in GvG).
Anyway, I'm posting here because when I sent them a support request suggesting they fix it, they said, "go post it in a forum somewhere." So, please, someone second me on this, and maybe they'll actually do something about it.

If you're a warrior in RA without a speedbuff you're failing. If you're an assassin without a teleport/speed buff you're failing. If you're a derv without a speedbuff you're failing. If you're a ranger without natty stride, you're failing. And most necros/mesmers take a lot of degen into RA anyway, and you don't need to be in melee range or anything.
I agree that running, not to be confused with kiting as so many RA scrubs do, is pretty stupid. But too many people bring horrible bars into RA. People running away from you is a fact of life in PvP, bring a speedbuff.

What Now
Your complaining? I had a monk run around and heal for over an hour, the match almost got up to 2 hours when it left. I was monking, had one leaver, a ranger, and another monk >.>
HawkofStorms
That is the delemia. The best way to win glad points in RA is by playing as a monk. However, you then have to rely on your (often) idiotic teammates to kill the other guy.
OhCrapLions
I would have just ordered my team mates to stop chasing him and trap his path.

What else is new about RA?
Faer
Well, the real key to beating runners is simply good strategy. As a Monk, it should be somewhat easier to tell your team what to do (as they all want their Glad Points, and will probably listen to the guy who is essentially assuring that they get them).
(Everyone better applaud my amazing MSPaint skills, or I will ban you)
So, beating runners is easier when your team converges, rather than when they simply chase.
People complain about runners in RA all the time, and ArenaNet doesn't seem to really care about it. It's a dead horse that I'd rather not see beaten any longer, but for the sake of community discussion of a constructive nature, I'll let this thread go on for a while longer.

I /bow to Faer and his mightly MS Paint/strategerisums.
And as Floski said... that's why you bring people with crippling/slow effects. Don't let some happy running jackass waste two hours of your time.
