Maybe there will be some GWEN items that need to be factored in, even some from areas that weren't available during the event?

This is why I enjoy GW so much, there's always these little things that keep you roaming around and thinking. Designers also don't have the final say in what goes into the game and this could be a broken quest as well, but with three things already in each chapter save EOTN I'm thinking this may actually lead to something.
Eggs and moas in Prophecies
hardened / enchanting it in factions
nesting material in Nightfall
This would leave one chapter folks have to figure out yet.

Will Gaile check this thread? At least tell us to do not waste any time if the egg won't hatch to anything.

Prophecies: Egg + Volcanic rock. The volcanic rock makes sense because eggs require incubation [heat] which is why birds sit on them.
Factions: Harden the eggs in Mourning Veil Falls. Eggs harden as they mature. Don't they?
Nightfall: 5 Skree wings give nesting material. Juni Berries from a quest presumable for feeding the hatchlings.
But what do we do now with the items right now? Do we have to find a tree to make a nest (Echoval forest maybe? Factions only has one point of interest right now compares to Prophecies and Nightfall. Maybe not a tree though because Moas are flightless. I tried taking all items to the nest at Fort Ranik but nothing happened there.
On second thoughts, what about Gyala Hatchery? I'll investigate...
That NPC [http://gw.gamewikis.org/wiki/Katharine ] was added in the preview weekend's patch in Gyala.
Conclusion: She was 'a little busy at the moment'.

Well if you incubate an egg ( i.e. sitting on it with a moa ) why would you need a pet in the first place ? If the rock is the answer then the guess on the Moa would be wrong as the rock is what we need for incubation and that would make sense if we do this ourselves.
On a side note about eggs - I actually raise quail and pheasants and if you harden an egg you can kiss that little chick good-bye. If shells are too hard they can't break out, if they are too soft they are turned into rubber and the chicks can't break out. The hardening of that egg as it's been called I'd think to think more in the direction of enchanting it if you read the description after it was immersed in the water.

LOL!
Come on, guys. Don't you all know what this means? HELLO??!! Deja vu?
Finding random mysterious items scattered around, with no apparent use, yet, with an obvious description?
Still don't know what will become of this?...
Ohhhkayy then, my guess is that A.Net will let the "mysterious rumours" run around for some time, and then announce that if you want to know what to do with it, or what it means, you will have to buy 'x'€/$ worth of crap from their online store.
They did that with little Gwen, didn't they?
Hey, you know what? ME TOO!! Or, at least I did... until the moment they used our curiosity to make money.
And they ruined it all.

Here is my little contribution to the skree wing farm question...
The best I could find so far is this:
Thiark Orchard - Exit Forum Highlands to the south
The green dots are groups of 5 Harpies without healers (Griffins) the blue ones have a griffin with them (very very bad for farming).
I solo the run in hard mode with the 330 HP Rit build by ReZDoGG
http://www.guildwarsguru.com/forum/s...php?t=10175262
(the scourge healing there was a helpless try to get rid of the Griffins, which didn't work)
I average one wing per run (takes about 8 min).
It is a bit tricky though because of the interrupts and I recommend a bit of training with that build to make it work.
After i killed the first group I run past the second one, which actives the res shrine a bit further down the road, and die.
Hope this helps... Still looking for better farms.
If you have a friend that can run a 600/smite team with you this might be even faster and you also might kill the Griffins - bring frozen soil ... they use renew life.
Cheers,
Timebandit

I'd have to say that no matter what you try the 'final' trigger will be GWEN related so you'll just have to wait....

Has anyone tried farming tihark orchard mission for skree wings? Don't know how successful that will be, but its a thought
Another good spot is Resplendent Makuun. Leave from Yahnur Market and just head east. There're a half dozen monkless groups, then a few more groups, some with some without

Concerning Skee Wing farming, there's a quest, 'Desperate Measures', that will spawn an army of skree. Exit Tihark Orchard to the East, go a little way towards the Bazaar to find the quest giver NPC. Make an u-turn and head for the hills. The best part is that the skree and hekets are busy fighting each other so just bring a MM or two, there's enough fresh bodies to raise your own army and let feathers fly. There's also a paragon skree boss that can be used to cap "Incoming!"

I just went out with H&H to Forum highlands...3 quick trips and got 6 wings...

I have word form a guild member (unconfirmed) that there is a trader in Twin Serpent Lakes that will give you a fish with no apparent use
Protoform X
I can confirm JeniM's post about the fish.
Leave from the Riverside Province exit, stick to the left, you'll see a Bog Scale Fin Collector on the U map. Gruhn the Fisher, she will give you a Herring for 5 Bog Scale Fins. There's nothing in the description, so who knows...

This is becoming more of a scavenger hunt :/
soon we will have to call McGuyver to ask how to cobine 20 bizzare items to create a mini-black-moa
now I'm off to get that fish aswell...

My guess:
Scavenger Hunt quest/game for GW:EN.
Who knows though? At this point, it's all speculation.

I tried taking the egg(hardened and unhardened) rock, nestings mats... back to the moa bird roost where you original got the egg to one of the empty nests but nothing happened.
I'm starting to think that this "herring" is actually a red herring to just completely confuse ppl.
Anti Oath
for those who dont know what a red herring is : wiki = A red herring is a metaphor for a diversion or distraction from an original objective.

Hmm, Berries, Eggs, Fish?
Looks like we will... be cooking a meal!
I bet its for Bokka again, that fat... thing.
I guess the volcanic rock could be to cook the food?
But yeah, to be honest, I agree with FelixCarter on it most likely being a scavenger hunt quest in GW:EN.
Either that, or it will be used to make some kind of meal we will feed the Great Destroyer, causing an allergic reaction, ultimately making him vunerable to our attacks. Thats my theory.

Wait why do people think the berries are involved? Were they just added and the volcanic rock as well? I thought berries were around before but I could just be mistaken...
edit: it seem to be though the quest will start in GWEN and will probably lead you to the lady in the Gayla Hatchery.

Yes, the berries were around before, however they (So far) appear to have no purpose. I guess we are just all being hopefull that we will get a use for all these random items we are being thrown.
Although it is possible they are just there to bring in a little bit of realism (I mean, does EVERYTHING in the real world that you find have an immediate use?), or as a joke to annoy us a little.

1. Gather egg
2. Harden egg
3. Build nest for egg
4. ???
5. Profit!

have any rangers out there tried having a black moa as a pet and doing stuff with these items? (doing stuff = trying randrom crap out) like talking to katharine in Gyala or going to the moa nests with your black moa or something random like that.
also, when i was going to get the fish in twin serpents, I ran by this one npc which seems to serve no purpose and calls himself a tracker...has this npc always been there and if so, what he is there for?

Well, I found the herring earlier today, so I've got the hardened egg, nesting material, volcanic rocks, and (of course) the herring.
Don't know if I want to try and get the Juniberries; I hate that quest.
I'm wondering how many more collectors have "new" items? I usually ignore them; looks like I now need to stop and check each one...
EDIT: The Tracker is just another collector. I checked him out before grabbing my fish.

you will build a nest but you will need a special moa in eye of the north to hatch it so you have to drop the fish to lure out the special moa to sit on the egg to hatch it. ... or something like that

o have a question should i get all the stuff now will they remove it after we find out what it does

What a grin
Stuff like this is what makes mmog's so much fun - I would love to see more unannounced stuff like this added on a regular basis in the future.

I figured it out
1. Take the hardened egg and volcanic rock to the arid sea
2. grab the ancient weapon and take it to the npc there
3. take the new ancient egg to the chick in the luxon place
6. Brand new Mini Moa Bird
its so simple even a poorly trained charr could figure it out
it was a joke Jesus
