I didn't preorder, so there was no event for me. For those of you who did participate, I have a question: did you find a use for hero points in EotN? Regular skills, pve skills, anything?
Knowing this would go a long way in determining how many tomes I have to obtain in the near future. Thank you.
Hero skill points?

Tyr the Skaald had regular skills for Hero Points: Eye of the North skills for the non-core professions.

There are NPCs that let you use hero skill points to unlock regular skills (you get PvE skills by doing quests). There's one in EotN called Geldrel of Ascalon [Vanguard Herald], and in Gunnar's Hold you can find Kodan [Dwarven Recruitment Officer] and Tyrn the Skaald [Norn Storyteller] Also, all 3 NPCs mention a new way of getting hero skill points, but it wasn't available during the weekend. Here are screenshots of their dialogues:
I'm really interested to see what exactly the Hero's Handbook and Master Dungeon Guide will do. Obviously the hero skill points will be just a bonus. I'm hoping it will be possible to get additional reputation points by showing the books to the NPC's. And it would be really cool if you could show off your killcount in the Hall of Monuments
"Let's see... that's 5 Minotaurs and a Hydra. Dunkoro, write it down. The hydra counts as 3, cause of the extra heads and all."

Yes, there are hero skill trainers just as in Nightfall
