They could be the next Balthazar unblockable.
If they want us to grind, they could let us grind this.

They could add a new tab to the Hero panel, in wich you choose the pet. Then hwhen charm animal is equiped, the selected pet is shown.

Hero pets could be selected that way to, so you could switch, trade and move pets between heroes and you.
