Gwen and her junk ?
Lord Feathers
Okay since the pre-view weekend has anyone found any use what so ever for these items ?
1.) Gwen's Broken Flute
2.) Tapestry Shred
3.) Preserved Red Iris
This seems to be a chase your own tail here or broken quest line that was started and never finished by the game developers. I've done a search for some of these things but can't seem to find anything recent that has been related to the pre-view weekend yet.
She did give us a tapestry when we got to HOM but was that something everyone got ?

With the Tapestry Shred in my inventory, there appeared an option in a chat window for Gwen saying "I have something of yours."
Then she babbled something about "Show me after our task is done," meaning I probably won't get her to say anything about the item until the campaign is finished or something.

I've kept the things in my stash guess I'll have to keep them in my inventory and see what she does as well. Hopefully it opens up something aside from NPC conversation.

Yes, she thanks you for keeping "relics of her past" but that we have more important things to do. Seems that we have to complete the Ebon Vanguard questline before you can do anything with them.
I wouldn't expect anything huge though.

I'm going to rage at anet if they don't have a use after the release. Keeping all that junk in my inventory for 2 years...
Marverick
I don't think the Broken Flute has any use, she doesn't talk to you if you bring it to her and it doesn't say quest item on it.

But that doesn't drop anymore, so it would be unfair to people who didn't get one for her to react to it.

I didn't forget that Cape I left it out since it doesn't drop anymore. Probably one of those things that maybe I should have kept as well when I had the chance but I think the tapestry shred will be a key item myself after all it was " her favorite thing in the whole world "
Diablo???
Her dialogue changes depending on what items you carry.

If you talk to her with a broken flute, she'll say "I can't believe you still have that after all these years!"

They should be used for something.
Maybe collect enough Tapestry shreds and you can add one to your HoM?

somewhere in the far shiverpeaks you will find gwen's trunk. That's where her junk goes.

I binned her items about two months back, didn't even think about GW:EN.

Axe Wielding Dame
I didn't have any of those items...I just had a regular Iris Flower in my inventory from Pre and she started speaking to me. Then I took her to her garden to read the dialogue (and to get more iris flowers).

I seriously don't think these items (except the red iris flower) will be very useful because they don't drop in factions or nightfall campaigns, unless they make a quest/mission to collect these items in GW:EN.

Oh no its unfair /cry.
Shoulda thought about that earlier shouldnt ya.
Really the biggest whine in GW is 'oh its not fair', gets so tiring.

Imagine if only people who attended the preview event could access the end dungeon of GW:EN now. "Oh, well you should have been there while it was up".

This however, is different. If you want whatever bonus' we get from Gwen, if any, then you can buy the other campaigns. Like I said before, I doubt it will be anything huge or important, but some of us have carried around these items for a long time and deserve some kind of bonus from it. Doesn't mean you can't do the same, but you'll need Prophecies and Nightfall.

that sucks that for those who hasnt the the items for gwen, but its their own fault, they could have collected em at the beginning,I too, didnt know that at the beginning but I heard stories for this items, that you should keep em,so I did,I checked wiki, and kept all the items,so hopefully they will come in use..
just hope Anet will have some sort of surprise or big reward for having these items for 2years and for those and me who have collected them along ago..cheers Solar_Takfar
I kept a couple copies of each. Didn't bother to keep one for each of my 10 chars. I guess if it really is useful, I could create a new char, rush thru pre to get the items, and them just transfer em around to one of my old chars.

maybe they could have a quest involving one of the items from pre-searing, and another one involving the preserved red iris from NF. That would still leave Factions players out but, o, well...

The dialogues make me wonder about the birth of Sylvari. Maybe, just maybe, Sylvari will come into being as Gwen's offsring. I wonder about the dad though. Will that be a charr?
The Alliance Maker
I also seem to have found a top left corner of a map and 2 bottom left conners of a map both say they are quest items as well but i havent seem to have taken the quest or found the person they relate too ANY IDEA'S

My money's on the Sylvari evolving the dwarves, actually. There's that prophecy that whoever wins, the dwarves will be greatly changed...
On the items - from my experimentation during the event, she reacted to the Tapestry Shred and the Preserved Iris Flower, but not to the Broken Flute. I'm going to keep the Flute around for a little longer just in case, though... Sniper22
IMO people who have prophecies should only get the "gwen junk" because that was the only other campaign where you actually see her. It wouldn't make sence for some factions person to know who she is.

What you gon' do with all that junk?
All that junk inside that trunk? I'ma get, get, get, get, Gwen drunk. Lord Feathers

I thought that dialogue was when you had the Tapestry Shred? After all...
- That flute only broke AFTER the searing - The preserved iris flower was only found AFTER the searing - The tapestry shred was given BEFORE the searing So the only one that makes sense is the shred triggering that dialogue. Lowly Peasant

Actually you fetch her broken flute as a very beginning quest to have her follow you, only later on do you buy her a new one. Red Apple
I expect something 'important' will come with all that stuff,, and that is because they had the time to put a whole dialog between she and her mother, why not a simple quest for collecting all her stuff?

Actually 8 years have passed since the Searing in GW:EN start. Pre-Searing: 0 years. Searing: 2 years Lich and Shiro's die: +3 years = 5 years.. Abaddon die: +3 years = 8 years. GW:EN: Now. 8 Years. http://wiki.guildwars.com/wiki/Timeline Lord Feathers
After completing the Ebon Vanguard quest line she gives two quests and takes the tapestry shred and the preserved red iris from your inventory.
Iris = " Fire & Pain " Tapestry Shred = " Then and now here and there " Anyone found a use for the broken flute we get shortly after going into old Ascalon ? Have been informed by a few guildies that a regular red iris works to trigger the " Fire and Pain quest ". vergerefosh
Regular red iris does work, and it's an evil quest. Pretty reward tho
