1.) Site Speed - This is currently being worked on according to the admin but is probably turning off a lot of users to the site.
2.) Forums - There is way too much whinning and flaming in these forums. Now with the size of these forums and the vast number of posts there has already been suggested the idea of a ZERO TOLERENCE on flaming. Honestly this should be implemented. If the only thing in the post is a jab at starting a flame war is it policy to ban that user ? I think this would greatly help the moderators myself.
Discussion of " Not liking the way something is " this is great it helps with ideas and in making the game better at times. GURU and the community has in fact been listened to at times with some of the suggestions, but these posts need to be moderated toward a constructive criticism and not simply a bitch fest. Sorry about the cursing but that's exactly what it boils down to
and not allowing this degenration in threads with a few warnings or perhaps bans in my opinion would increase and not decrease the forum users and help some of your MODs with the head aches that come with that job.3.) Keeping the lights on - Every site costs something be it money or time to run. Porn or the advertisment of cheats for any game exspecially GW is in poor tatse. Your Elite Program - earns folks a few perks but what exactly do those drawings earn you ? If you've given out something really neat include that in your description. It's probably not the best idea since this is motivation by GREED but it might land the site more money to help it run and I have no idea what that entails this is simply a suggestion. Does the site have to meet a certain amount to run each year or period ? I know the adds placed on the site probably help with that but is there a gap that has to be filled ?
a. ) Maybe open up something in ventari's corner and advertise there for your upgraded users showing what could be won.
Fan Site - Good point brought up by Inde that no matter what type of site one has there will always been complaining. People will come to the site because of Guild Wars and the forums and even the advertisments should reflect that. You want discussion in those boards and you want them active it will move your ability to gain advertisers if this is how the site runs through money gained there. I feel that it should be moderated though to a point where Fans and customers ( advertisers ) alike see a site and forum boards that are a TOOL and ASSET to the game and not something that looks like Recess is out. This will move both the site woes and forums woes forward.
This is just my two cents worth and I would happily discuss anything else folks can think of to help make things better.
