hi people, i saw this months ago here, GWx2 client makes you run to Guildwars at the same time, any updates on this subject, i want to use it and run myself since my brother isn't here anymore.
will i be banned if i use it, to use 2 accounts at the same PC ?
coming to hardware side, did any of you reported it being harmful for your PC ?

Sorry to hear about your brother.
As for running two clients on the same computer, I believe Anet does not support it but it is not illegal.

Why can't your brother run you? Guild Wars is a network game, so even if he is in another city he can still run you.
myst1k
he doesnt play it anymore lol, i would love if someone who uses GWx2 to confirm it.
im stuck with 2 accounts and 1PC to run myself and do some stuff.

It's not Illegal, No you will not be Banned for it, But Anet doesn't support it, so if you get any problems with your PC or with Guild Wars, Do not contact them about it.
I've done it for almost a year and a half now.

The only problem I'd had was the occassional d/c of one of the other accounts but I really haven't run 2 or 3 accounts at once since getting my new computer (except for stashing things in storage). No apparent "permanant damage" that I could tell.
pork soldier
I've run 2x guildwars for over a year - it's really easy to run yourself places and to use a second account as extra storage.
I really doubt they'll ban customers for buying two copies of the game.

I've been running the GWx2 program for well over a year with no problems. The only hassle is having to copy .exe and .dat file to second folder whenever there is a new GW build.
As stated by others, it isn't against the EULA, but ANet does not support it and will not help you if you have any problems with it.

ive played a gvg where 2 of us were running 2 accs at same time... = lag for me due to dl up.

What the others said, I run it with no problems - although I wouldnt recommend it on dialup like the person above! lol

I have this prob with GWx2 though:
The first time both clients run no problem. When I try it a second time only one client works.
Any help?

I run into that problem every time a new build comes up. A copy/paste of the three updated primary account files to the 2nd account's folder fixes it.

Now everyone wait a second please.
I see many "not illegal" statements here, but no one quotes a source. Has there actually been a confirmation on this from Anet? Did anyone ask a lawyer? I don't know exactly what GWx2 does, and the FAQ on that website won't tell (it is "under construction" for about half a year now), but I wouldn't be surprised if whatever it does could be interpreted as a breach of ยง3 (b) and/or (d) of the user agreement:
Even if GWx2 does not modify the executable file or the data file on the hard disk, it still modifies what the program does once executed.
Now, I am not a lawyer myself, so I don't know if this actually is a breach of the EULA. I'd just rather be cautious with saying either aye or nay, as long as it hasn't been officially confirmed. Has it been confirmed? If so, someone please post a link!
That said, I'm pretty sure Anet never has banned and never will ban anyone for running two copies of GW on the same computer, as long as the means that are emplyed to do that are not harmful to the game. I've been doing it for ages myself, using the old hex editor method to actually hack the executable (which definitely is a breach of the EULA!) and I'm absolutely fine with it. Not every breach of the EULA will automatically result in a ban. some harmless ones are tolerated. Fortunately, people at Anet have common sense.

Perhaps Gaile or Andrew could come into this thread and shed some light on the subject.

I don't recall where I read it, but Gaile stated that it is not a breach of the EULA, but that ANet won't support it.
You need to copy the .exe and .dat file from the primary folder to the second folder after each GW update.

Its expressed in there I believe.

No Anet will not ban you.
I been using Gwx2 for almost a year now.. no problem with it.
If u wanna run 3 GW client, then u have to use hex editor.
Running 3 client will take a lot of computer resources so for some computer, it will lag but 2 should be fine.
Hope this help

I have a question, when you download the 2nd client, do you have to rename it like gw2.exe?
wingzro
No, you just need to have the second client in a different folder.

I'd be more concerned with the possibility of the program including a keylogger of some sort.
Also, their site is advertising some type of drunkard bot now. Which would definitely be against the EULA.
Lets Get to Healing
Can I get the link to GWx2?
I cant remember it.

Maybe because they/he released a Drunkard bot, since it simulates a mouse click every 3minutes or so i think, it would be against the EULA. Which could be the reason the powers that be of guru done smite all connection to it.
It still possible to find the thread in google cached search results, or u can always do a google search for the GWx2.
Lets Get to Healing, thats what you might wanna do. I not going to risk a ban by posting the link on guru.
As for the keylogger question, it existed in the thread for well over a year with only one complaint. And that guy admitted he had downloaded other programmes. 99% of users are happy and still using it today.
But I suggest no one download the Drunkard bot! its against the EULA

Let's see, you can get two copies of the game and run them on two different computers in the same house off the same network connection...those two computers could be right next to each other...you're doing the same thing just cutting your hardware in half.
And the program doesn't alter what the game does when it's running...it's just allowing you to run two instances at the same time.
Not illegal, not against the EULA, and shouldn't be. If you spend the money on two different copies, play them.

Word!
And if anyone has every used it on a normal machine, it is really hard to play with dual accounts. It takes alot os system specs and will likely fry your graphics card in the long term
I just use it to exchange items between accounts
Aramaki
Same here using 2 clients almost over a year, the post has been removed? Pretty laggy for my pc so have to set both graphic setting to low(still lag though, esp. after gw:en's release), mainly use for items transfer. Using the hex editing with registry entry method so no worries of keylogger.
I just found the tutorial which is still on Guild Wars Guru itself, hope it helps.

Just update your main account folder, then copy that gw.exe to your secondary account folder.
Then update your secondary, followed by starting the program that makes both run.
