An alternative to weapon modding.

I don't know about others, but I still lack inventory space in GW. (Storage space as well, but inventory space is a bigger problem for me.)
I propose that the weapon modding system be changed. I would like that when I apply a mod to a weapon it becomes an option for that weapon and that you can select the active mod with a drop down list.
So I can have ONE sword with vamp/fire/zealous/cold etc mods and select which one I use in a certain mission instead of having to carry multiple swords along filling up my inventory.

A sword can't hold a 'drop-down' list of mods. It's a freakin' sword, not an abstract mod container. I see why you need it, but getting too far away from what makes sense is usually a bad idea.

..But we do need more storage space, maybe an epic quest of uberness to get a larger storage? or some such...

Sword market etc rely on buying/selling a sword with those perfect mods(15^50 20/20 +30) changing it around so you could apply any mod would screw around with the sword economy. who wants to name of every mod on the sword?(not me)

This could work for armor, but NOT for weapons. Getting a perfectly working weapons is WAAAAAAY easier than getting most armors.

I like the idea myself. But to solve the problem with selling make it so the drop down list would only be applied once it was customised, and even then have a small limit to it maybe 2 or 3 options at most.

Last time I looked I couldn't buy a fiery axe to cut down the tree in my backyard.
To all those dismissing the idea just like that, I hope you're not doing it out of some perceived sense of realism. Elemental/vampiric etc mods are clearly game mechanics that have no rooting in reality.
I honnestly believe that if a warrior can allready use 3 sorts of weapons on his primary proffesion only and all those might get modded in several ways, then his inventory is way too limited.
A warrior carries an axe a sword and a hammer with vampiric, fiery, cold, icy, zealous, of enchanting, + HP, of defense, .... (well, maybe no zealous hammer.)
Depending on builds any of those combo's might make more sense than the others. Especially if some skills trigger if you hid targets with a specific elemental damage.
My problem is not getting the weapons, I'm rather trying to get rid of them without loosing some functionality of my equipment.
