Has their been any comment from Gaile about Hom and PvE?
thunderai
I am getting ready to purchase EoTN this friday and although i enjoyed the preview weekend and everything EoTN has to offer I was dissapointed that the HoM did not recognize my PvE titles with the exception of the KoaBD title track (which could have been achieved with the PvP titles too, so thats mutt).
with all of the hoopla surronding the event i figured someone would have heared something by now as to what may be in the HoM on friday. Do we know anything in addition to what we already know from the preview?

They are still trying to word their official announcement so that nothing they have done is wrong, and that everything is "Working as Intended."
Give 'em until Friday.

I'm still waiting for them to say that it was presented incomplete in the first place.

I doubt they will say anything about it untill after GW:EN is realeased. Why risk pissing more people off before selling it. This way they keep some sales, and when they make a statement after it either gets people back on board meaning more sales, or it doesn't and they haven't really lost anything.

Loviatar, based on the thread and the authors post, I'd bet he is talking about the Hall of Monuments. If you have not read the 14 thousand posts about how it is disappointing, then please do so now so that we do not have to rehash all the arguments about locking minipets, ignoring PvE titles in a PvE monument, how no weapons or armor from the 3 preceeding games can be used, how only the new heroes can be used, or in general how it is underwhelming.
Well dang, by my count I listed almost half of the complaints.
Thanks!

TabascoSauce Yeah, for which this thread is not ment to cover. I just wanted to know if there had been any official or un official comments about the PvE titles in HoM. I am seriously considering not purhcasing it until i know more information as the HoM is probably the only thing i care about and carrying over my accomplishments into GW2. The only saving grace about EoTN is that everything else is so good.
Its like the team from nightfall made the content and the team from factions made the HoM. which I suppose considering that the team from factions is supposedly making GW2 i am not surprised.

Gaile Gray is supposedly going to be in Kamadan ID 1 when GW:EN releases. I remember her saying something like that when she was there last.

Meh, HoM will change MAYBE like 2 to 3 months from now.
Even though 80% of the community wants MAJOR changes, I doubt it will happen.
GG Anet, GG.
And still no word from Gaile, at all.

Give 'em until Friday. I think that's pretty close. If they give a statement before EotN (which would be a very intelligent move), I can see it going something like this:
"Thank you for the feedback on the Hall of Monuments! I just want to let everyone know that we are looking into it right now and I have no new information on what will be done. I have sent out e-mails and hope to get a response back soon. We always look towards making Guild Wars a fun and exciting game and we welcome input from our players on how to make it even better ! Remember that it was just a preview event and you will be able to experience the completed version of the monument upon finishing Eye of the North. I hope to see everyone in the north! Now let's conga! "
I then foresee the release of EotN coming out and only a day or two later the forums will be flooded again with anger over the little improvements to the monument. Gaile will then throw more sugar coat on it and maybe after a few month's we will actually see some improvements. I don't expect we will ever see the Hall improved to the point that the majority of the playerbase expects it to be at however. You can almost compare this with the DoA disaster that was the NF release but the exception here is DoA wasn't glorified and used as a selling point in every single interview and preview the way that the Hall of Monuments was.
I could be completely wrong here but after playing for so long there are trends that I have noticed.

one of the last posts about HoM before Gaile went live was, many of our questions will be answered when we are able to see it for ourselves. Well, that was about as miscalculated as you could ask for. And since then, she's been completely silent on it. Strange.
I'm virtually certain she knows our grievances and our reasons why, and she's brought them to the dev team which has banished her, leaving her in an impossible position.
Personally, I won't buy gwen until I hear from her about this.

I figured there are many players like you Vitis where this would affect your purchase of the game hence the Intelligent move remark. Personally, I'll still be buying it on day 1 but I think it will be slightly improved as time goes by. I admit I've become agitated by these incomplete products from Anet. I have very high expectations for this expansion seeing as both teams have been working on it for nearly a year now.

Hi. I grabbed a couple of minutes of James Phinney's time just now and he would like you to know that we are still working on the Hall of Monuments. Some of the concerns that players have voiced have been or are being addressed, although obviously not every change that players have requested will be made.
Adding to that a bit, I think it's important to remember that Guild Wars is a constantly-evolving game. What you saw in the Sneak Peek Weekend is not what you will see upon release this Friday. And what you see upon release may be different than the HoM a few weeks or months down the line. Your thoughtful and constructive comments are welcome, and you know that we do listen to feedback and suggestions. There are certain core design objectives -- "visions," if you will -- that I sense will not be changing, even if there are a number of players who wish it so. However, there are other elements that may very well change, although I do not have specific information about that right now.
I hope this info is helpful, and that you are reassured to know that you are being heard and that your input is being considered. --Gaile 23:06, 28 August 2007 (UTC)

TabascoSauce Not entirely true...you can add armours from the previous 3 games... in fact I already did. My warrior has Kurzick, Glads and Pirmeval Elite armours and all 3 addded to the monument. The main gripe there is that it doesn't actually add your armour (eg my warrior is female but it shows the male warrior version and female ele primeval...how random is that?)

The vision of us all being willing to grind every single character we care about to having a worthwhile HoM each, I assume.
Really, I think some of the devs need to come out of their bubble and read these forums themselves.

It simply means that HoM has been designed in line with a specific idea of what it should be and not what you want it to be. You cant always get what you want isnt a straw man.

What I would like to here from ANET is an explanation of what they were thinking when they released the HoM as it currently stands.
Why do they advertise EoTN HoM as follows...
Quote:

Why did they mention "across all Guild Wars games" when EoTN weapons are the only ones to be displayed on the weapons shrine?
"achievements" yet do not want to acknowledge hardly any achievements that your toon gained in PvE..
Why do they say "personalised" when armours shown are not even the same class/sex as the toon?
Please ANET, explain your design concepts of the existing HoM as they certainly seem to be against the general consensus of all your customers.

I think some of the things people are asking for are simply not acceptable from a business point of view. For example, people wanting all achievements to be account-wide. I don't think that will ever happen. They need to give you MORE reasons to play the game, not less. It makes sense for them to say: If you want THREE characters in GW2 to have the benefit of having Obsidian Armor in GW1, you need to get it on THREE characters in GW1.
Likewise, allowing people to put mini-pets or weapons in HoM without customizing them for that char allows players to "rent" their weapons and mini-pets to others, hence removing playing time from the game. Why would I bother farm a certain weapon (or farm gold to buy it) when I can just borrow my guildie's weapon and put it up?
I am not saying these ARE ANet philosophies, these are just my examples of things that the player base will want and will be extremely convenient to the players but that ANet are VERY unlikely to hearken to.

Ha! Better they make things better, I have 10 character slots, and I'm not leaving to GW2 until I fill up all 10 Halls.
It's not very market wise to make players grind for ages when the next game is coming close.

Needless to say many of my guildies and alliance buddies were upset with HoM. Many of us have quite a few PvE titles and get the crap over them not being displayed... Do I have to do PvP to get titles displayed here? I am not one for PvP unless I really have to, and I prefer the PvE game by far as its more interesting to be honest.
We sure need some more info published from Anet on what the HoM will do and how this is supposed to work. Display titles but not as you know them...
Brings back memories of the song "Star Trekkin" and the line "It's life Jim but not as we know it"..... "It's HoM Gaile, but not as we want it"

Since day one people have asked for auction houses too and they never got those either so its very well possible that users asking for X or Y will NOT get what they want because thats not what the designers want, intended or are willing to do.
Having said that, it was clearly stated that HoM wasnt 100% finished when the preview started.

BOTH teams are working on Guild Wars 2, not just the Factions team.
(Anyway, wasn't it the Factions team that was working primarily on GWEN? Prophecy, Factions, Nightfall, GWEN, GW2....)

This is obvious, natural, evident, and only someone extremely silly would think otherwise. You're giving the same answer Gaile was giving, but it's not the answer to this forum's questions. The problem is not that only one char will get the benefits from one obsidian, the problem is a) you'll have to login to that specific character to show your obsidian in GW HoM; and b) whichever char you pick to inherit the obsidian in GW2 can only get the titles and whatever else comes from that one char, since titles/achievements cannot be redistributed, split or concentrated. Well, actually there's many other problems, discussed thoroughly on these forums. Yet no suitable (as in, definitive) answer has been given to such discussions. Crom The Pale
I personaly have no problem with the HoM being char based as opposed to account based.
If you think about it, it makes sense that if you have 9 chars full of accomplishments then you might end up making 9 chars in GW2, depending on its setup and other features. Having 9+ chars contribute to 1 char in GW2 would be a little overkill. That being said, they could have the HoM display all account achievements, with each one labeled according to its char owner. I could then place all of my mini-pets in one HoM, each being customized to its char, but all displayed at the same time no matter what char I bring there. The same could be done with armor, it really should be a statue of MY char up there with the armor on it anyway. These seam like very reasonable changes and should be concidered strongly! Loviatar
it worked fine for me.
went in and got GWEN scrying pool works fine for cinema replay it is a preview event which they are also using to find a ton of bugs under load that didnt show up before. was i stupid enough to risk a minipet even a mini pig to a preview trial event? no way sherlock until they make a zookeeper/petkeeper like the hat maker no pet of mine goes in at all Sir Green Aluminum

no way sherlock More like were people supposed to know that their mini's would be locked to their one character only? I found out from the forums and did'nt do it, alot of people complained about that. Also it looks like Anet has forsake this forum like the olde gods of Tyria since they're posting on wiki instead of here where most people will see/give feedback. Lol they're like retreat!!!! That sounds like a contradiction. You say that you can't afford a nice graphics card, but yet you are building a "bad ass gaming system".
Just about anyone can afford a decent video card to play guild wars. Hell, I bought a Chaintech 6200 OC dirt cheap long ago and it STILL runs GW like a champ on high settings. Commander Ryker

We get the mini's, un-customized and we can swap them amongst toons on our account, BUT if we want them in GW2, we have to figure out which ones we want each toon to have and there will be no more swapping about. That just sucks. The weapons thing is no biggie. If I was going to sell it, I already would have. I keep the ones that I like and sell the ones I don't.
