I'm looking for software that will install into a newly built computer. Im not sure about the software to buy. Most of the software I've looked at requires some form of previous software. I also don't want to spend too much money on it, around or under $100 would be nice. If anyone could reply with a suggestion on what type of software to buy or what software will install into a home built computer it would be nice. Thanks.

Well, the most popular choice would be Windows xp home edition for the most compatibility and usability. You can normally find copies of it on Newegg.com for about 85 dollars. But a simple google search will give you all you need.

I would go with Windows XP SP2 Professional, just because of some features that are not found in the Home Edition.

Definatly get the SP2 edition, it will save you alot of time.

I am a Vista user, but dual boot into XP, in all honesty Vista just doesnt offer much more than XP, and i find myself more and more booting into XP just so some of my software works.

I would recommend XP for cost vs functionality
