i was getting excited to hear the game will go live on the 31st at 12:01 est!!! but then i notcied something when they updated the main page today. the count down isnt right then so i look around more found that it has been changed and pushed to 3 :01 am est. why is this i asked

i was reading posts by galie and it hit me she said something like no you willnot be able to buy the game through the website til the 31 becuz for us to offer it for sell before our venders would be wrong. dont quate me lol it was something like that or another ..... anways

i know for a fact that at frist it said 12:01 est for about 2 weeks now til the update earlier today . by loging in and right on the sign in page is said 12:01 pst . only thign i can get is there doing this becuz of one reason if they sold it at the same time as servers going live it could do alot of errors. like a saying you already have the game for example.

so there going to let the servers go live at 12:01 pst and let you by it at 12:01 est just so if something happens i could be wrong though on way it was changed by two hours

Your post is very hard to read. Please try to use proper spelling, grammar, and punctuation in the future if you expect a reply.

The reason it releases at 3:01 EST on Aug. 31 is because the official release date is now, and has always been, Aug. 31, 12:01 a.m., PST. You must have been mistaken when you read 12:01 EST.

I heard some businesses were selling the game so you could install it and have it ready by the 31st but you couldn't go to GW:En till it opened.

Is this true?

This kinda blows...I pre-ordered from the online store, but to cash in on the pre-order I can't start as soon as the game goes live? We should at least get a day's leeway (SP?) if we pre-ordered, as we got with the previous games, to give us time to buy the game without missing out.

Will it really matter if you miss the couple of minutes it'll take to pay for the game through the online store? Sure, there is a possibility that the store won't work because of the massive amount of players trying to buy GW:EN, but I think Anet realises this is a risk, and will probably take every precaution necessary to get you the game as soon as possible.

However, I can understand the problem if you, for instance, borrowed a credit card to pay for GW:EN and won't have access to a credit card at midnight on a friday.

They better compensate for how many people will be ordering it online. When I did my preorder it kept timing out on me so I kept trying to order it -- turns out I ended up ordering the preorder about 4 times because of that. Luckily I got the extra 3 charges dropped off my credit card but it wasn't very pretty.

Don't we have a half dozen other threads of people complaining/worrying that the online store cant handle the release day load?

Lets not turn this into another one of those.

To the OP: Release is 12:01 PST. That translates to 3:01 EST.

Yup...8.01 BST for me, that's if the online store doesn't crash..

Which means I won't be able to play anyway as I'll be working.....

12:01 pst time is 3:01am for us east coasters. We usually get the short end of the stick here having to wait so long time wise for the release. Chances are i'll just get my download when I wake up on friday morning.

I'm thinking it won't be that much of a problem this time because for one it's a week night and people have work/school the next day, so they won't be up that late to play. Even the next morning, people will be at work/school and won't be buying it til they get home. Hopefully this will help with crashing and such.

Oh you mean like there were no long download times for the preview? :> And I'm sure there may be more people getting the full version then there was the preview. I got lucky I was one of the few hundred that realized the preview started at 11:30 or around, but many people were complaining about huge download times with 10k a second.

That's why I just went and got the boxed version instead. No need to cram for the GW Online Store and no need to download all the content. Just whack the CD and game code in and i'm ready to go. All that, plus that the servers go live here at 5pm in the afternoon, so I get loads of time in the morning to leisurely go pick my copy up and install it.

putting the cd in your computer wont give you anything! all the cd has is the download client. thats it you will still have to up load the info from the server when it goes live. i always you /image so i dont have to load any of the info from server about 1 day before a games release. but to have the game for yourself all you have to do is put in the key. putting the cd in and installing it is going to do nothing for you lol . lots of pople dont know that i have never used any cd on this computer other the the frist games cd!! and never once put in nightfall or factions cd.

but ya the frist release date was 12:01 eastern time but they did change it becuz of the matter of online store issues.

they said that you can now buy a key at 12:01 eastern time. but game would go live til 12:01 p st .

i emailed anet about it ealier

a buy it in a store enter your key and wast the 4.99 that you paid for the pre pack

or

b wait til 12:01 est to go back to the inline sotre and use your card to pay for the rest of the game(which will be $35.00)

in my mind i would rather bu it online

my state i do not have to pay taxes for things i buy online(which saves me $2.40 cents lol) and i get the mission pack in nov. for spending more the 30 dollars in the online store)

only downside to this way is the fact i dont get the box or manual to the game or the little map. and cd.

but you wont ever need the cd and you can download the map and manual from guildwars.com

Heh bahh no whining about it being 12am PST. May I point out too many things tend to be basd around EST wich means that alot of things are too early for us west coasters, kind of nice having companies that are based aroudn our time zones.
