Will NCSoft's servers overload as everyone tries to buy GW:EN from the ingame store?
Buster
I don't recall Anet having major issues with NF or Factions with the store. My guess it will be fine but just remember if you have a dial-up connection don't expect the download to finish right away.
This will be my first time buying a product online from Anet rather than using retail. If all goes well I am sure I will use the online store in the future.

The fact that we haven't heard from Gaile or anyone else leads me to believe that ordering will be like when we all bought the preview for GW:EN, only worse.

You don't recall it because there weren't any but, that's only because they didn't have the offer in place that they do now. I'm pretty sure more people bought it from other sources rather then the plaync store.

It's no wonder you don't recall it, because it couldn't have happened. The in-game store didn't exist when Factions was released.

As much as you know about spelling
Edit: Gah, I just realised you weren't talking about the servers of the game itself, but the servers of the ingame store T.T
Well, I got it this morning from the store around the corner here, with a 5 euro discount through my pre-release, so doesn't matter to me.

I've no idea who that is aimed at, so what exactly has that got to do with the thread topic?

This thread isn't even about lagginess during the game. It's about the in-game store crashing when GW:EN goes on sale, because of too many people trying to buy it at once.....

Will the NCSoft servers overload when thousands of people try to buy GW:EN online @ 12:01? Answer: Yes.
In my opinion this is pure idiocy and stupidity on NCSoft/ArenaNet's part... I've been wanting and patiently waiting to buy the full-version of the game for the past month now, but for some inane reason there is NO option to do so... I check pretty much every 2nd day for the option in the online store :P
And especially now, considering that some people (like myself) may want to spend the $30.00 online so they can get access to the bonus-mission pack?! What are you waiting on ArenaNet.. Things are only going to get more crazy here-on-in...

Ok. So....what do peoples' computers have to do with the in-game store crashing when GW:EN goes on sale? Explain please. Edit: As far as I can see, you just came into this thread saying how people know nothing about computers, when this thread has nothing to do with our computers. Maybe YOU should be the one to go back and read, before you post? Tempy

gg... And just because you don't sleep she should have to be up to answer all of these questions immediately...Geez this thread was started at 3am. And I am sure she has nothing better to do. Give her some time. Couldn't be that she might actually research it beforehand to give us a concrete answer.... Link Weaver

Ahhh, I see. Just like it didn't when the prerelease pack was released, right?
So you can guarantee that there will be no problems, no repeats of what happened last time? The store won't lag out and give people problems with their orders (again)? Link Weaver
This is why ppl need to know more about comps the serves didnt CRASH!!!!!
I had no problem same with all my friend and ppl i know. Stolen Souls
Ok, it didn't crash, true. But...because you and your friends didn't have any trouble....doesn't mean it was the same for everybody. People DID have problems. And people have the right to be worried about it happening again.
And you say people start threads to whine. But you are whining about people whining. GG Das Hip

Don't pick fights with 12yr olds. You can't win and you'll feel like you're getting nowhere. Better to waste time on more productive endeavors (like getting that cartography title, lol) Buster

Yeah I got my boxed copies from Gamestop at that time but I am hoping the online store will work out ok. Stolen Souls

Oh I wasn't picking a fight. Was just a bit curious how worrying about the store having problems = not knowing about computers. But whatever I guess...just have to wait and see. But I have a sinking feeling that trying to purchase GW:EN when it goes live is gonna be...well, not fun... Thunder79
If everything is the same as when it was when the GW:EN preorder pack went on sale...I HAVE NO DOUBT there will be lag causing timeout errors. Hopefully they have learned from the GW:EN Preorder pack release and have taken action to mitigate any lag that may happen when it's released. When the timeout errors happen two things can occur:
1. You get a timeout...no charge goes through...you have to go back and resubmit the transaction 2. You get a timeout...but a split second before that happens the store puts through the transaction...causing a charge to your credit card...and triggering a confirmation email being sent. If you are lucky you will notice this email before you try to submit another transaction (hopefully the email isn't delayed at all). The reason why multiple charges can happen is because your client has not been updated with the correct information saying you have purchased the product. True it will get worked out in the end...but it is an inconveinence that is avoidable. People like me have asked Anet to allow us to pay in full for the game prior to release thereby placing a true preorder for the game so that when they flip the switch to allow people into GW:EN we can enter with few problems. No instead they have told us a preorder from the Guild Wars Online store are not possible due to legal reasons. Retail stores do it for nearly all retail releases...but they can't do it for the Guild Wars Online Store apparently. Doesn't make sense to me...but then again I'm no lawyer. No instead we are forced to let the shit hit the fan and we have to deal with it. Zeph
