Boxed Content and Dialup!! I have a Question
Red Sonya
This past weekend I spent more time downloading areas and content of zones than I did playing most of it. My question is does the boxed version come with ALL the dungeons and areas and outposts and towns etc. etc. on the cd (or dvd whichever itis) so I don't have to download 500 files everytime I zone? Or does it just come with an online client to get you online and you still have to download every little piece of code from online?

I would imagine that the dvd hold all of the content available at the time they were burned. Another option if you aren't planning on playing for a certain period, like when sleeping , you can start up GW with the -image command and let it get everything downloaded and decompressed so it's ready to go when you actually log on to play

1, 2 or even all 3 games and you DON'T know the answer?
... Just like any of the updates you've had over the years/months, you haven't noticed it having to download files and decompress them?
People still have dialup?

-image command ftw. Community Works forum has a thread on how to use it:

Or I'll have to wait untill monday to go and buy it from a shop. Right click your Guild Wars icon on your desktop, and select properties. Where it says target, just add a -image to the end of the file path. So it will look something like this:
"C:\Program Files\Guild Wars\GW.exe" -image
That will download everything. Just make sure you remove the image text when the download is finished, else the game will not start.

Or make a shortcut to it, and name the shortcut "GW updater" or something. That way you know which one will force updates, and which one will let you into the game immediately.

I just use the run command, find the exe, then add -image to it.

Yep, that's the easiest way imo. Start, run, browse the location of GW.exe, type -image (space between them like this "gw.exe" -image), enter, then let it do its thing. Took me 20-30 mins last weekend to download 600+mb file size, 40k+ files, well worth it because you dont have to dl everytime you enter new areas anymore.
