Gwen too short?
wolfwing
Apparently people are already finishing the game and looks like quite alot. Are people finding it too short/just right in length?
Kas
I don't know. Don't have it yet, I'll wait for the first nerfs to roll through and the first barrage of players quitting. Anyways, I was under the impression that the Preview Event wasn't wiped and as such might make it seem that people finished it that quickly but instead really just played a lot during the preview.
EternalTempest
None of the stuff we did in the pre-view was wipped.
Also since it was a 3 day preview, I do feel that people would spend more time then normal tyring to get as much done as possible.
There also the group that's going to "blaze" right through it.

No I mean there are people that have already beat in 9 hours the full version of gwen.
Arkantos
Yeah I found it pretty short too, but I enjoyed it.

Again, the point the above posters were making was that the preview event counted towards the time. In other words, people got a head start, if you will.
My friends and I had Nightfall beaten a day or two after it came out. Would you say Nightfall was short? How quickly you beat the game is going to depend on how you play it and how good you are at it. There are guild groups (that you generally don't hear much about) that start playing from the second the content goes live and steamroll everything in a few hours.
I'm not saying that GWEN isn't short (I haven't played it beyond the preview event), but worrying about length based on a few people finishing the game quickly is unfounded.

Yeah but it looks like what I feard, it took about the same time to beat the full version as the whole norn quest did.
Maybe not, but combining how short the preview event *main quest itself* was plus how much smaller the Asura/Charr lands are it really makes you wonder.

My dungeons are reset though .

Just because someone has the need to fly though every thing in the game doesnt mean its short, i would say they proabably didnt do most of the things in the game anyways. if i remember didnt someone hit 70 or 80 or whatever the cap is in WOW in like 12 hours and it took most of the other people a week or so? or something.
Sekkira
I'd say it is short. Well shorter than the previous games anyway. That's okay though, it's an expansion, not a stand alone game.
Navaros
It's too short if you are looking for a game that takes a long time to beat. It's a 1 - 3 day game, max, in terms of beating it.
quickmonty
meh ..... I'm going to take my time, enjoy the scenery, do some side quests, max some titles. Then, when I get done with this character I'll start my others, or go back and help guildies, or green farm ...... you get the picture .... I'll find plenty to do for quite a while and won't whine about GWEN being "too short".
wolfwing
Gee right now your the ones whining, I'm just curious, does no one want games that don't take a few days to beat the main storyline? I realize it's an expansion but but 1-2 days isn't even really an expansion it's a addon.

The key word there is "Apparently". Who told you they have finished GWEN? Be realistic, because its only been a day and I very much doubt anyone has finished it!!
Even if they have, then they probably rushed through it without doing every quest and exploring every area. They will have rushed to the end without doing everything.
But lets check the wiki (which tends to get updated very fast after a new campaign or update is added). Do we have images of end game GWEN armor? do we have information about every dungeon, outpost and area in GWEN? do we have photos of all racial armors?
The answer is no!
If loads of people had finished GWEN already, then that information would be there (IMO)!
I personally say its bull-crap and get proof before you assume that kind of thing. Its only been a few hours since it was opened and your already posting a thread bashing it for "apparently" being too short.
Until you, yourself finish it you cant really make a thread about this.
But even if it is completeable in just a few days or week, who cares? I finished factions and NF in a very short amount of time, yet months later Im still getting joy from playing them.
There is normal and hard mode!
Armors to collect!
Weapons to try out!
Exploration to do!
There is more to this game then just the storylines. Heres another point; you tell me a single game that exist today that isnt usually completeably within 24-48 hours of it being released?
Most FPS games can be done within hours.
Most RTS games can be done within days.
The storylines of most RPGs can be completed in a very short amount of time, once training is over.
Atleast GWs have a storyline to follow and a reason to play. If you compare it to WoW which has hours upon hours of gameplay to it, it has no actual storyline! The point of WoW is just to kill creatures, increase experience and level and to get better armor and weapons so you can move onto the next area. It has no story to push you on, just this want to be better then everyone else.

Uhhh go down a thread and read, "Sign here if you've beaten GWEN. Not beating 100% everything, but were talking main story here, the main quest wich seems rediculously short to me. The rest is fine, but maybe I just expect more from a games storyline.
duverga
People have finished it. There are screenshots of end-game on forums to prove it.
But there's more than enough to do to have fun for quite a while yet...

This is nothing new and playtime is subjective.
If you only do the necessary stuff then most likely you can beat any GW game in no time. But if you do other things and the necessary stuff, then it takes you twice as long.

i havent finished it yet but looking at the map that came in the the box with GW:EN i can see it will be short.
The added land they put on to the tyria map for GW:EN made it look like it would be huge, but there is just a few places dotted accross the map still leaving lots of empty space.
Lets hope that with all that empty space still left we get a few updates like SF,the deep,UW ect,ect....

First character through a new gw / expansion is to stop and smell the flowers.
Talk to every npc, let curosity of something on the map distract me to go explore or even just go in to a map to explore it.
2nd/3rd time through focus on the bare A->B->C->D points to the quest or mission I'm on.

I wonder what some people in this thread would say if they bought Chessmaster 9000. They would play 1 game, say "Im finished, omg it was so short!" and then go to forum and whine.
Really, how long would it take for someone to finish Prophecies if he wanted to, asap? He could rush presearing, get ran to Sanctum Cay, get ran the mission, ran through the desert, beat doppleganger in 10sec (possible), get to Fire Islands, do few missions.. and woah - you did the Prophecies!
The fact that you didn't even discover Temple of Ages exists because it's not on the main road.... never mind that

I don't get why people rush through the game so quickly in the first place -- missing SO many things. And then they whine about it and how short it was? Um..that's b/c you rushed through it. "Gee my drink is cold now that I intentionally put ice into -- why is it so cold?" duh - b/c you made it so. Try doing all the quests, getting all the collector items, maxing titles, getting all of the skills, and farming for new greens and such. Given it's going to be shorter as it's not a FULL game, simply an EXPANSION to an existing game. It's still fun and has new/cool content. I don't see why you're complaining. Heck, if you bought it online you get 3 more missions in a month or two also.
